Not sure where to get answers, maybe a few opinions would help too. I noticed a couple months ago, that a woman was letting her dogs use my front lawn as a bathroom, she would walk ONTO the property to allow them to & pick it up. I asked her to stop, and she just kind of looked at me, walked away, and disappeared for a few weeks, only to come back and do it repeatedly, everyday.
My ring camera kept sending me notifications and each time I would catch her on it. Eventually, I got her on camera getting into her car and I really wanted her to stop, so I left a note and told her that she’s trespassing, it’s illegal and to please stop or else I would have to escalate to the police. I don’t actually want the police involved. I just want this woman to stop letting her dogs go to the bathroom on a lawn that I work very hard for as dog waste ruins it. She doesn’t live next to me, but I pass her street every day which has PLENTY of public grass and other yards.
Two weeks after I left her a note, today I’m at home and I see her on my ring camera leave a note that stated she took my note to the cops, and the cops told her that she is allowed to let her dogs go to the bathroom on any lawn during her walks, that it isn’t illegal, it isn’t trespassing and it’s respectful as long as she picks it up.
I have a feeling she’s bluffing with the note. The thing I wanna know is, if she comes back again, do I have any legal recourse? What do I do? I don’t want to make stuff up if I’m threatening police involvement. I believe this is trespassing. I’m just kind of baffled at how inconsiderate people are. I didn’t expect her to reverse blame.
