Context: I’m chronically late and have ADHD and autism. My parents were (and still are) chronically late for things. I’m realizing I don’t think I actually know what to do to be on time.
What do people do to be on time? How do you avoid being late? For example, when you need to go to an appointment, how to you make sure you get there on time? How do you make sure you get to work on time? Are there steps you take or guidelines you follow? Do you do math in your head about when to leave or when to grab what you need?
Genuinely please tell me how you make it to things on time, step by step. Much appreciated!

Step 1) Find out what time you need to be at the thing.
Step 2) Accurately estimate how much time it will take you to get to the thing. If unsure, estimate at the high end to account for unexpected delays.
Step 3) Take the time from Step 1 and subtract the time from Step 2. Leave at the resulting time.
I also have ADHD and autism, and I had the exact same issue when I was younger. What worked for me, for a while at least, is setting my watch 10 minutes fast. I knew it was 10 minutes fast, but it was still really good for me to be thinking ahead of time, if that makes sense.
