hey guys. i have a person who constantly smokes out of plastic water bottle bongs. for years. I know that shes going to get dementia at 40 or something like that, but when i explain that to her, she says she cant understand what im saying even though im right. she smokes out of them daily when she has the chance. this has been going on for years.
maybe you guys can ELI5 better than i can so i can show her this post and not have to change her diaper at 35 😂 links to research studies appreciated if you have any along with the ELI5. If you can show me studies that compare the dangers of cigarettes to the dangers of plastic inhalation thats even better because she hates cigarettes. thanks yall
everyone asking: its either an aluminum foil bowl on a water bottle bong, or a proper bowl piece on a water bottle bong. Its every single day
edit 2: guys, she is inhaling plastic we dont need to debate that. i have hit her bongs and i have been gassed out by them. i dont need to hear arguments on whether or not plastic is being inhaled i just need the ELI5 on what its doing to her body thanks

You need a study to tell you that? Fucking hell, mate…
What kind of bottles specifically?
Is she using aluminum foil as the bowl?
The ELI5 is: “inhaling smoke is already super bad, and inhaling smoke out of hot plastic is even worse”.
Is the plastic like actually melting or burning? Because if it’s a metal bowl and stem going through a hole in the bottle, it’s probably fine.
I don’t expect people older than 16 to still hit bottle tokes, let alone at 35 damn. Buy a bong
It’s not like you’re setting the bottle on fire when you use a bottle as a bong, there should be a bowl and stem between the lighter and the bottle
A small amount of plastic (or chemicals from in the plastic) could leach from the bottle into the heated water and be carried by the smoke into your lungs. Plastic fumes in your lungs aren’t very good for you; could be carcinogenic (cause cancer to grow in your lungs), could be toxic (kills tissue cells in your lungs), or could form particulates (small lumps of plastic that block passageways in your lungs). All of those are unhealthy and the effects of them build up over time.
