Aren’t OLED displays open to the risk of burn ins? I would assume that’s the reason for lower available brightness.
There is no such thing as negative RGB values. RGB color is additive color, so you can add equal amounts of each to make white light from the monitor. You can’t go lower than 0. Equal amounts of each but lower total would be dimmer white. The number of colors that can be made is limited by how many bits each RGB value can take on. It depends on what color space your monitor is outputting, but none of them output the whole color space we can see (i.e. the CIE 1931 color space).
