If it comes down to big tech companies the answer is always: because THEY get a benifit out of it. It’s almost never the case that it’s actually meant to improve YOUR experience. So without knowing exactly what you mean I can already tell you its probably a tiny psychological advantage for them and that makes them implement it. If you ever feel like “hey why did they change x, while it makes my experience worse?” That’s the reason, they don’t care about you as a customer so there are no justifiable positive reasons that actually give YOU a benifit. There are only shady, behind the scenes, marketing reasons behind it. I might be wrong in this case though.
