I’ve had emergency situations where I had to put an old one back on (army). An older sock that’s had time to dry is way easier to re-use than a fresh one that’s all sweaty and stinky
If I took the sock off because the sock felt weird/gross, then that’s it for that sock until it’s washed. If it was just hot or something, I’ll rewear that sock until I go to bed.
I think it really depends more on how long/ where you wore the socks prior to taking them off. If I wear a pair of clean socks just around my apartment for a couple hours, then I get too warm and remove them, then yes they’re safe to put back on anytime.
Immediately… unless the socks were on my feet less than 5 minutes, then i’ll wear them again as long as i didn’t step in anything gross… otherwise I will put new socks on if they’re stretched from being worn
It’s not time with me. When the bottom turns brown or black I stop putting it back on. However, if it’s just sitting there on the floor it won’t be unusual for me to put it on after a week or more.
If it didn’t make it to the laundry for some reason I wouldn’t have any issues putting years old socks on if they look cleanish.

This is oddly correct
Well it’s not fixed, it changes depending on a number of factors, but point taken.
Mine aligns with the time it takes for the washing machine and dryer.
The first time i take it off.
If sweaty then about zero seconds
Literally as soon as they come off. They are not getting put back on.

It’s more a combo of stank and moisture for me…too much of either is ick in a sock…or anything really…
What an absolute fallacy.
It’s variable for me and not fixed.
It is immediately illegal. In fact I have a time limit that I can wear socks continuously before they begin to bother me.

Depending on the situation if the sock is dry there is no time limit.
The opposite is true for me I have a fixed amount of time I will wear a sock. I shan’t say now cause its well beyond what folks consider normal.

I read sock off as in a competition lol
Y’all take your socks off?
As long as it’s not stiff or stained it’s good to go!
The moment it’s off, it can’t go back on.
Really? For me it depends entirely on how dirty/damp the sock was when I took it off, and not at all how long it’s been off
It’s more how long they were on or how gross they got while wearing them before it becomes gross to put it back on.
But it can often then become non-gross again if it’s long enough to dry out
Try backpacking. You rotate between 3 pairs for a week.
