Ex-wife doesn’t allow me to be in contact with my daughter

Obligatory- asking for a friend. So I have limited information, but I want to be able to help point him in the right direction. He’s a client so I actually know him through a professional capacity. I work alongside the family court system but have a limited understanding of it.

Here’s what I know: they divorced 3 years ago, they have a 7 year old daughter together. He pays child support every month. Ex-wife does not have full custody. She left the state with a new partner, got re-married, now lives in Tennessee. He reported that she does not let him see her or contact her.

What should he do next?

What does the custody order say?

Contact a family law attorney to review the custody agreement. Taking a child out of state can require the other parent’s approval. The issue of no contact plus dealing with his ex in another state makes this complicated.
