Factory farming is a dystopian nightmare. Lab-grown meat is our best shot at ending it.

r/

I’ve been reading and watching more stuff lately about how factory farming actually works and it is honestly so fucked up. The conditions these animals are kept in, the way they’re treated – it’s horrific. I knew it wasn’t good, but I didn’t realize just how bad it really is.

That’s why I’m rooting so hard for lab-grown meat. It feels like the only realistic way we can still enjoy meat without the suffering and environmental damage. I know it’s still early days and the tech needs to improve but its gotta come soon.

As much as I’m for ending factory farming, organs and muscles need a good supply of nutrients and a circulatory system. That’s why our best bet for growing kidneys is growing them in pigs, not growing them in a lab.

I don’t think it’s a particularly unpopular opinion with most people who actually confront themselves with how factory farming works. The lab grown meat thing might not be everyone’s conclusion but I don’t know anyone who’s seen that type of “farm” and thought “yeah that seems pretty alright”.

Vegetable and grain factory farming is equally a dystopian nightmare. Lab grown meat isn’t solving that
