family keeps judging me

r/

Hi guys, so my family specifically my parents are always commenting on my body. For example that I have too much cellulite or that I’m overweight. I’m 20 5’7 and 185 lbs. i gained a lot of weight during college and they are always pointing it out. I understand that they are trying to help but it bothers me and makes me cry a lot. Cellulite is something I’m really insecure about but I have struggle with it since I was 15 and a good weight which was like 130. I’ve also recently made myself throw up almost everything I eat if I think it’s gone above my calorie deficit. Which is basically almost every single day. I need advice on how to talk to my parents about it. I’ve tried but they don’t listen.

Open the lines of communication by sitting down with your parents and letting them know how them commenting about your body makes you feel.

Ask them about their experiences in college their first year. Ask your parents if they struggled with anything in college their first year whether it be weight, studies or anything else.

Are you or your parents educated in nutrition? If not, I would encourage you to either take a class in college or start doing research. If you’d like you can even private message me and I can help you with that.

By being proactive and talking to your parents, this can help to open the lines of communication with your parents, and hopefully give you a boost of confidence in your everyday life.

Stop vomiting. It won’t end well. Get on the Mediterranean Diet. Look up the med food pyramid. Start working out or walking 20 mins before you eat anything. Ideally, run 10 mins before you urinate. The weight will come off.
