Family member recently was convicted of some pretty heinous crimes and received life in prison. They had two vehicles on my property that I’d like removed but no clue how to go about it. Can I have them towed at owner’s expense? How would I go about this?

Visit the nearest shopping mall or apartment complex and look for a big “Unauthorized Vehicles Will Be Towed at Owner’s Expense” sign from a local towing operator.
Call the number and ask them about their process for a private property impound.
In my state (Washington) they have to come out and post one of those signs for 24 hours, then come back and tow the vehicles. They’ll contact the registered owner by mail, and that person will have an opportunity to redeem the vehicles before the impound lot forecloses on them and sells them at auction.
Or, you can contact your family member (often via their attorney) and get them to sell you the cars, or give you a limited power of attorney to sell them on their behalf.
