Not that the food is good for me- it’s not. But sometimes I want something that’s not good for me and that’s my business.
I want to walk in and say “Cheeseburger Heavy All” and the person to say “that’s all?” And I say “yep” and then I pay.
I don’t want to try to touch a screen a couple hundred other people put their dick beaters on just before I touch my food.
I don’t want to try hunting down “cheeseburger” (which, as far as I can tell at my local Burger King, is not even in the menu on the damn kiosk ANYWHERE). I don’t want to then add extra ketchup. Then add extra mustard. Then add extra pickles. Then confirm. Then decline an offer. Then confirm again. Then go wash my damn hands after touching the thing.
I tried ordering a spicy chicken sandwich with pickles. Well, on the touchscreen pickles aren’t an option for that sandwich. If I’m at a counter with a person, pickles on my chicken sandwich is a 2 second request (and that’s being generous, I’m pretty sure I can say it faster than 2-Mississippi)
And if I have cash, it’s a whole other shitshow.
I 100% get that these were made to increase corporate profit margins and not for the customer at all, but it’s now to the point where if I walk in and see the kiosks, I do an about face and go eat elsewhere.
If you actually like these things, I do not understand you.
(Before anyone says “use the app!”: NO- and you are missing the point. If I walk into a fast food joint, I just want to order it and eat it. A 10 second interaction. I don’t want to fumble in the exact same way through menus on an app just to also find out there IS NO option to order my wings “extra wet” at all or even enter a comment asking for such. I’m looking at YOU, Buffalo Wild Wings!)

Make your own food, problem solved
Sorry I’m gonna have to downvote cause I agree here. The kiosks are horrible and are always messing up for me.
I 100% agree with you. A lot of the time the kiosks are super slow, so I end up taking 10 minutes to order a fucking sandwich and a drink.
Ordering via app (and, secondly, kiosk) is SO MUCH than in-person. It’s not even close and honestly not even the same kind of restaurant in my head.
If I use the app then everything for everybody is correct, I can easily repeat orders, save favorites, get everything for like half the price, order before I get there, and not have to be near the gross weirdos and old people who refuse to order fast food the obviously best way.
Bro there’s this super cool thing called not using the kiosk. No one is forcing you to use it. Just order it with the cashier.
I don’t understand how you could have a problem. I have never once not been able to find the thing I want. I have also never taken more than 2 minutes at a kiosk. Go wash your hands or use hand sanitizer…you know kinda like whenever you do anything that makes your hands dirty…
I cant wait until every single screen is smash in from someone fist .Then we will see how much money they will be saving. Plus it helps out every next customer now they get back to the basic way.
I can’t imagine where you’re going that consistently has front counter staff that 1) know what something like “heavy all” or any shortcut lingo means and 2) aren’t trying to ask a million questions like ‘how are you?’ and ‘for here or to go?’ and ‘can I get a name for your order?’ and ‘how do you spell that?’.
I’m always waiting on the cashier/clerk to find the buttons or remember the thing that I said, I have to figure out how long their attention span is and whether I can say “a spicy chicken sandwich with American cheese and extra pickles.” So often I have to say “a spicy chicken sandwich……………with American cheese………….and extra pickles.”
I know a lot of people like the human interaction but my apps and kiosks are so much more efficient. The places I go do have all of my preferred customizations available so I don’t suffer from the lack of those.
Edit to add: my preferred future would have all fast food joints be purely automatic on the front service side. No one likes working those jobs, no one wants to pay people to work those jobs, the worst qualities in customers come out against workers in those jobs.
>I don’t want to try to touch a screen a couple hundred other people put their dick beaters on just before I touch my food.
pretty much anything you touch outside of your home, and probably within, is just as dirty or worse. stop caring about such things, you sound hypocritical.
