Hi all! I am honestly looking for some validation 🥹
After not going to the dentist for close to 20 years , I finally went last Thursday. They wanted to get me cleaned asap so they made room for yesterday to get half of my teeth in for a deep clean.
I was honestly so terrified and I cried to them when they asked when was the last time I had gotten my teeth checked out.
The difference is so crazy to me. Never would I have thought that my teeth would look like this. I went from crazy anxiety just thinking about making an appointment to actually feeling excited to get my other half cleaned on Monday.
Still have a long way to go!

I’m so proud of you!
Sooooo proud of you!!
The dentist is really scary and just generally aversive. It’s really hard to get yourself there and put your health first, but you did it!
I remember when I had a 6 year gap between dentist visits, and ended up needing 3 root canals and my wisdom teeth out. And of course, a couple of cavities to boot.
It was a massive relief to just have a normal visit after a few months.
I’m so glad your visit went well and that you’re looking forward to having everything finished. It’s going to feel great when you’ve made this a normal part of your life and know how well you’re caring for yourself.
Yay for you! Honestly a dentist you are comfortable with makes all the difference. I’ve been with my current dentist for over 10 years. I figure I’ve probably got about another 20 before he retires. I have terrible teeth so I see him sadly often, but he’s always friendly and welcoming.
