So you met someone but not through a mutual activity, you’ve both got a lot in common and want to try to hang out. It’s not a romantic date but it feels just as nerve wracking!
What are some fun first friend date ideas? Ideally something that allows you to talk but where that isn’t the only activity (like getting coffee or going for a walk- that’s for later).

My go-tos are rock climbing, pickleball, fishing, or video games. Most people like at least one of those things

My favorites are museums, hiking, and snow skiing (riding the lift is great for talking!). All are low-pressure but afford the opportunity to get to know each other better.
Edit: Apologies. I just noticed the sub this was in. I’m a dude.
Not to state the obvious, but you say that they’re someone that you have a lot in common with, why not an activity involving something that you two have in common?
I usually go for a walk on like a public trail or around the mall as I struggle to sit still. The walking gets the words flowing, and if you’re in a mall, it offers a lot of opportunities for topics of conversation. Plus there’s always food and drinks nearby there and it’s often temperature controlled.
Edited to add: if you like the bar, there’s often pool and darts. Or an arcade/museum would be good!
Zoo, aquarium, or museum is always my go to. First, I love those things. Second, there’s things to read and stuff so you don’t have to feel like you must always be talking. And the signs/animals prompt conversation.
I’m old, but I like some of the classics: miniature golf (if the place isn’t packed), a quiet dinner where you get to chat and maybe plan something else right then, etc.
