first time renting, don’t have parents to ask

My question is, am I still responsible for the entire amount of rent if my roommate did not pay theirs? I understand my landlord said the attorney did not state ‘joint and several’ but because it doesn’t specifically say what room I am responsible for, I believe I would have to. Also the lease stating the total sum is owed to the landlord concludes me to believe I would owe all if my roommates did not pay.

I apologize if this is a dumb question. This is a house for college and my roommates are currently randoms so I don’t trust the fact that they will just pay their share.
