Food is a chore for at least 1/2 of all meals anymore

r/

Less than one meal a day, on average, is genuinely enjoyed. I understand that some meals are worth it because they are in the company of people you care about, either with friends/family or clients for business purposes, but those occur less than half the time. Other times, it’s just to consume calories and make hunger disappear. The number of meals I enjoy a week is likely three or four (if I don’t count my morning coffee). I would if I could go without food intake without feeling hungry most days.

You get my upvote, food is one of the things I live for.

    You must be thin.

I agree I very rarely enjoy eating even if the food is good. I just do it for survival

You’re missing out on so much.

You should try some different recipes. Use fresh ingredients as much as possible, and take your time to hone your cooking skills

I’m not a food enthusiast but I kind of like it because it’s kind of like meditation or something in that ballpark, not sure if that’s the right word, but it’s something to do that clears my mind and makes me just focused on that one thing PLUS if you eat something that tastes good it’s pretty enjoyable. I’m probably never more than 5-10 minutes eating my meals so it’s not that big of a deal. If I’m grabbing a burger or something I can finish it in less than that so yeah… take my upvote for an unpopular opinion, I wouldn’t say it’s a chore at all

This is how thin & fat people exist. I care way too much about food and I’m always thinking of what to eat next 🤣

I dislike eating for the most part so I agree. If we didn’t have to eat I’d be so happy. Such a waste of time most of the time

I enjoy the process of cooking. i find it meditative.

I don’t love or hate eating. It’s just inconvenient. I wish they could make some drink that somehow fits 2500 calories and 100g of protein into a single cup without any of the chaos that would probably unleash on the body.

One Meal a Day (OMAD) is a thing and very healthy for you.

    I fucking love food.

Even while doing keto and not being able to eat carbs.

    Tacos? Hello?

I agree but I also try to budget when I’m buying food so I sacrifice taste for practicality for every meal unless someone else is buying me dinner.

I tell my friends all the time, it 2025. There should be a pill or something that I can take so I don’t have to eat anymore if I don’t want to. I don’t enjoy eating, it’s a chore. I love cooking for other people, but I don’t like eating. I don’t like eating with people, the sound of chewing makes me want to throw myself off a bridge.

    You poor thing.

I enjoy every morsel that passes my lips. Preparing a meal or snack is joy to me.

I hate cooking and grocery shopping. But I love the eating part. If all my meals magically appeared in front of me I would be in heaven lol

  19. aimsthename88 Avatar

    100% agree.

My body does not communicate hunger to my brain, so feeding myself is something I have to actively remember to do. If it’s a busy day, I probably won’t eat because it just never crosses my mind. Oftentimes if I have to put in any effort to prepare for myself, I’ll forgo the meal completely.

Now I have a family to feed as well, and that’s exhausting. It feels like I have to feed my kiddo every 5min, but when I look at the clock it’s actually been 4hrs and it is indeed time for another meal. My grandmother use to say that if she could take a single daily pill that contained all the food/nutrients she needed, she would. I can’t disagree with that at all!

If I could, I’d just not eat. I could drink protein shakes all day and not care except for the fact that they’re stupid expensive now and they don’t make me full. I hate eating

  21. ButterscotchTime7269 Avatar

If it weren’t for the fact that I have kids, my entire diet would be cereal and lunch meat.

  22. uSer_gnomes Avatar

My dream is to just have a food brick of some kind that fits my macros so that I can just buy them in bulk.

Never having to figure out what to make, no wasting time in the kitchen, completely removing the tedious trips to the grocery store.

Jesus yea food is like a top 3 reason for why I enjoy life. I’ve had the exact opposite thoughts as you as I have wished there was someway I could eat and then just make the food disappear from my stomach so I can keep eating more without getting full.

I just continually eat small amounts throughout the day.

    I’m a bird though.

Meal replacement shakes are a thing, but why do they have to be so friggin expensive?!

  27. hehateme42069 Avatar

Things are generally too busy these days. I find myself eating less…
