Food should stand on its own and not be marred by sauces, dips and condiments.

r/

We should treat all food with the same respect we show steak. For those out of the loop, those who use A1 steak sauce are mocked, as well they should be. Well, I scoff at those who dip their cod fillet in tartar sauce, drown their chicken egg roll in soy sauce and layer their hot dogs with ketchup and mustard.

If the food requires such condiments, it’s not worth eating. When I get a veggie burger at a baseball game, I throw away the buns and all the toppings first then I simply eat the black bean patty by its lonesome. In short, I only want to enjoy one flavor and I don’t want that flavor perverted by an excess of sauces.

Sauces dips and condiments ARE food. They are part of the “recipe” of a finished product if you will.

My man thinks pasta should literally just be some cooked noodles apparently. Sheesh.

Sauces, dips and condiments are just post seasoning. Eat whatever tastes good to you.

I was understanding until the end. Wtf is that

  6. pennynotforthoughts Avatar

Guess what’s probably in that patty though? Sauces and seasonings. You’re just getting the dipping embedded into it. To stand alone you really should just eat raw beans.

You can’t have many opinions on food when you’re a vegetarian anyway.

    >I throw away the buns and all the toppings first then I simply eat the black bean patty by its lonesome

this is the funniest thing i’ve ever read in a reddit post

Eat whatevet you like, however you like it and let others do the same. Mind your own damn business food snob.

If a food needs a layer of powdered seasoning then it’s not good either with this logic. Dipping sauce and condiments are liquid seasoning so you can control how much you’re consuming at a time. Would you say the same thing about sushi and soy sauce?

“when I get a veggie burger at a baseball game” is when I realized this was a fake post.

Certainly an unpopular opinion. I feel like you are also insufferable at mealtime.

This shows a classic western misunderstanding of soy sauce. Soy sauce isn’t a ‘dip’ like the other sauces you listed. Soy sauce is primarily a seasoning, and not using it is akin to not putting salt on fries.

(I know this post is tongue in cheek from the OP, and it’s brilliantly written)

That’s a lot of words for “I have the dietary habits of a five year old.”

Food should stand on it’s own without being perverted by things like spices or even salt. Hell coocking and preparing changes the natural flavour, texture and nutrition. We should eat fucking raw potatoes, uncooked rice and die of salmonella and parasites like it was intended.

Sauces are part of the dish, though. They add additional flavor, but also contrasts in texture and sometimes temperature.

Even steak often comes with a sauce, like a peppercorn sauce, beurre blanc or jus.

    >I only want to enjoy one flavor

This is a wild take. Even simple dishes have multiple flavors from spices and herbs.

See, I was with you for steaks. A properly seasoned steak does need A1 or anything else. Even a good cheesecake should be able to stand on its own without toppings.

But the burger? My dude. The point of a burger is to have toppings?

At least you’re truly unpopular 😂

Je ne peux pas à croire que tu aies fait ça

You can enjoy whatever culinary abortion you like, but a life without the French mother and daughter sauces is a life not worth living.
