For people who consider life to begin at conception, why do they not consider the baby to be 9 months old (or however long it’s been) when it comes out of the womb?

Because it’s not really about the baby, it’s about controlling the woman.
Because age is traditionally measured from the date of birth, not the date of conception.
becuase that would put them on the hook for 9 months more childcare.
the majority of the time, it’s not about the sanctity of foetal life, its about punishing the mother for having sex. by forcing the baby to term, the mother is now out of the workforce and must become dependant on someone for support…like a man.
its all about controlling women.
Cause it’s a lot easier to track age from birth as opposed to track age from conception. Knowing the exact day conception occurred would be much more difficult to ascertain.
Because it is your “Birth”-day not your “Life”-day..
Actually some Asians do
Because they are hypocrites.
I mean, most things about how we talk about age are just based on how people usually talk about it so that everyone can understand each other. Just like how most people turn a year older on their birthday, but if someone was born on Leap Day and only has a birthday every four years, they usually don’t say they’re 5 when they’ve been alive for 20 years
Social norms and standards, and established paperwork. At least, I assume that’s their reasoning. I’m not a “life begins at conception” guy.
Religious thinking, and logical thinking are not the same thinking. There’s no sense trying to really reconcile the two, all you’ll do is waste your time.
“pro lifers” don’t have a coherent, cogent, consistent or honest constitution and do not base their beliefs on the reality of biology or women’s rights to own their own bodies.
It’s like how profess their belief in Jesus and vote for someone so unlike Jesus. In fact, God is very pro abortion and prescribed it for adulderous women. They aren’t earnest.
In some Asian cultures they do and they have two ages, one official and one unofficial
“Happy conception day to you” doesn’t sound as good and it focus more on the raw sex between parents than the conceptionday boy.
Because we can’t determine the exact date of conception.
We can, however, determine the exact date of birth.
Because it’s called a BIRTHDAY.
Time started 13.8 billion years ago, so why do we say the year is only 2024? It’s just useful to have a zero point without error bars on it.
Temperature starts at absolute zero, but most of us don’t use the Kelvin or Rankine scales.
Because it’s very difficult to determine when you were conceived but very easy to determine when you were born.
Koreans actually do this! Or at least an approximation of it. 1 year old at birth, and the next years come at New Years. If you ask a Korean how old they are, it’s not uncommon to get their birth year in response because of this
Because the event you are describing is called birth. Hence the reason why it’s called a birth-day.
Isn’t that the tutorial phase when you get your starting Stat points?
Note: Am average reddit dum dum.
convention, also I don’t want to know the exact date I was conceived on 😂
