For those who post adult content – Did you own sex toys before you started posting, or did they come later?

r/

I’m curious about this from a cultural/social behavior angle.
If you post adult content, did you already have sex toys for personal use before you began creating content, or did you buy them as part of becoming a creator?

I’m trying to understand where sex toys fall on the spectrum:
Are they more like personal-use items (say, like a toothbrush or skincare product—common and private)?
Or more like professional tools (like lighting equipment or props that come with the job)?

Not looking for explicit stories or product recommendations—just genuinely interested in how normalized they are in daily life versus being something tied to adult work.

Contrary to popular belief, sex toys are not a gateway drug to self-promoting your own public porn.

I don’t post adult content, but every adult woman I know owns at least one sex toy. It has nothing to do with porn

I sell content and I did utilize vibrators prior to selling content.

I view them as more of a personal use item like you described. Plenty of women (and men) use toys to enhance their sexual experience. My husband has used mine on me many times prior to me selling content.

Of course I did have to invest in more toys for content, but it is also about curiosity for me and exploring my sexuality. Plus, I brought in more income to be able to afford high quality toys. Before selling content I couldn’t have imagined spending $200 on a wand. But now, it’s my favorite thing ever.

Feel free to ask me any follow up questions, happy to answer them!

    Toys don’t come. People do.

Most people that own sex toys do not and wont ever post sexual content. Like 99% of my friends own sex toys none of them post anything.
