Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone has experience with this situation or advice, surely it’s not uncommon in Texas.
My old job was investigated by the labor department and I was sent a letter stating the conclusion of their investigation was that I am owed money for back wages ($4,500 roughly) but that they couldn’t collect it for me in this case. The letter said I could file my own private lawsuit.
Do I need a lawyer in this situation or would it be enough to just bring that letter to a judge and show them the results of the federal investigation? I feel like a judge would defer to their findings without much more involvement. But idk!
