- The dish itself is a whole meal.
- You can put almost anything in it: fresh or cured meats or any kind of proteins, fresh or frozen vegetables, cheese or any kinds of sauce.
- It’s a high ceiling high floor type of dish: people can make heavenly fried rice but rarely do they mess up fried rice (yes, uncle Roger, even those one you mocked can still taste decent).

How is this unpopular?
Far from unpopular opinion. In many households in Asia, especially single, the leftover ingredients in the fridge all end up in fried rice. It’s why kimchi fried rice is a thing to begin with in Korea.
Rice is a good that is often part of leftovers so I can see most people agreeing with this.
I’m pretty sure East Asian and probably India alone make this a popular opinion, but even elsewhere I think you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who go out of their way to disagree.
I literally live off fried rice
Chicken. Tuna. Shrimp. The list goes on
Lo main sweeeps gang
One of the most popular foods in the most populous area of the world. Downvoted
It’s one of those versatile staples true .
But in terms of sheer variety pasta might have it beat. I’m biased though
I counter with quiche/fritatta
I’ll bite.
I love Shanghai noodles, Singapore noodles, fresh rolls, spring rolls, sushi… But nothing slaps harder than a bowl of fried rice.
I could live on fried rice, this is not unpopular
