Earlier today my friend was arrested on a class c misdemeanor. She was sent to the local jail and we were told we could get her at 9pm. 2 hours later were told she isn’t there. She was sent to a hospital. They won’t tell us what hospital, what happened, or why. Her mother also called and was told nothing. I’m getting more scared by the minute because she was adopted at the age of 3 and brought to the USA. She is a legal citizen, but wasn’t born here, so I feel it’s urgent to locate her and know where she is and if she is safe. Please if anyone knows how I can find where she is let me know.

I’m sorry for the scary part. HIPAA prevents telling where patients are from the hospital side unless they’re on the approved list.
The police don’t have a duty to tell you where they are when they are released or sent away.

NAL. Have you/her mother called in a wellness check, and then filed a missing person’s report assuming she is not located during the check? I understand not wanting to involve police but I can’t think of what other rational steps you could take, you likely won’t have much success locating a person by yourself. The days closest to when a person was last seen are the most crucial. I’ve heard of a case just like this where a woman was released from jail and hasn’t been seen since, so this all sets off alarm bells to me.
