Hi all! I have several good friends from Northern Europe/Scandinavia who have been studying in the US this past year. I would like to give them something nice, and I’m wondering if there is anything uniquely American (or otherwise) you think might make a good parting gift? While we will perhaps meet up later in life, it is of course difficult since we dont live in the same country (or even the same continent), and I am trying to think of something particularly meaningful.
I hope this is the right place to post, I’ve been brainstorming for a while and am still uncertain. Any suggestions are welcome!

A gun.
Maybe something regional. What part of the us?
I don’t know what to buy for people if I don’t know them
Get them something they like or something they need
There’s uncommon gifts.com, nuts.com, the world market and other places for creative stuff
I could buy a bunch of taffy or sour candy and some people would love it and others would hate it
I would do something native to California. Like we always give long-term visitors to Texas cowboy hats or boots. Do you have anything like that? That is specific to Cali.
Young people from abroad often like sports jerseys.
Have they fallen in love with any foods local to California?
When in doubt, I buy people sweatshirts. Everyone likes sweatshirts. You can get one with the school name or state name on it.
Europeans fcking love red-solo cups for some reason.

You could always do something like saltwater taffy? Or a cute postcard or a cookbook? If it’s a chick maybe a fake flower, or it’s a guy maybe a fun shirt? If you have a picture of them you can get a caricature of them made and sent over.
If they get to take a pack of red solo cups home, they’re instantly popular.
I swear on my life every European has asked me if we really do party with the red cups and many have expressed wanting to experience the red cups at parties lmaooo
Maybe a cookbook of US favorite foods?
