Like the title says. Woke up this morning and I was blocked. Just wanted to ask if I had done anything wrong.
I loaned her about 200 dollars last week because she was short on rent. She asked me to and told me she would pay me back on Friday (July 4th). I said yes obviously.
Friday comes around. She didn’t say anything about it so I asked her. She first got pretty defensive and said “oh I knew you were going to ask me that”. Then she said the banks wouldn’t allow her to send me the money cause they thought it was fraud which made no sense.
So then she said she would pay me half on Saturday and half next Friday. I said okay. She didn’t pay me on Saturday. She then said she would pay me everything today.
At this point I was a little irritated, not because she was struggling to pay, but just because honest with me. If you don’t have the funds I would have been okay with it, and we could have worked something out or I would have just said it was a gift. But she wasn’t talking to me just saying she would pay me the next day.
Anyways I didn’t yell or anything or be mean, but I did tell her I was irritated. Anyways she texted me and said she’ll send it to me in the afternoon today and that she was going to bed. I said goodnight as well.
Woke up today and I was blocked. Honestly it’s probably for the better. If she acted like this about 200 dollars I probably wouldn’t have wanted to get married to her down the line, but did I handle it badly from your perspective Reddit?

how long you’ve been together?
Sounds like she did you a favor.
It’s an easy way to break up that’s for sure.
I don’t think you handled it badly at all. She could’ve simply just been honest that she won’t have the money as anticipated and could’ve worked with you on paying you back in some capacity. We’ve all had moments where we’re down on luck and need some help, but that doesn’t mean that while we go through a situation we treat someone poorly like she did to you. I would just cut your losses if she truly ended things because if that’s how she handles a minor problem, just imagine how she’d behave in major ones that you’ll encounter later on in your relationship.
She might have just temporarily blocked you because she doesn’t want to deal with it until she has the money, but if she does unblock you, take this as a red flag that this is how she deals with things when they don’t go her way
Take her to Civil court for your $200 back.
You found out how she really is for $200. You got off cheap.
Losing $200 right now is cheaper than the money that you could’ve wasted further down the line (getting a place together, an engagement ring & getting married).
Listen, if her family is in the area, go to them about your money. They may pay it back, or at the very least get on her case about it and maybe she’ll pay you back.
I know it’s not thousands of dollars, but it’s the principle of the matter. You loaned her money with an agreement for her to pay it back. Then she goes and pulls this bullshit? At 25 years old? No.
Other than that, don’t pursue anything else with regards to her. She took herself out of your life. Try to get your money back, and then let her stay gone.
