Good idea or not?

A gaming friend I know is teaming up with a few others he met online to pay a third party to create a mobile game for them. They are almost $200,000 dollars into development and have little to show for it. None of them have any coding experience and they are convinced they will be making around $500,000,000 in the next few years. They keep soliciting others for money and act like it is a sure thing….seems shady to me…what do yall think?

May I ask what the concept of the game is? Regardless I would say this is extremely delusional to think they will be making anywhere near that amount of money relying on a 3rd party company to do all the work and having 0 coding experience. Who holds the vision to the game and is making sure it is up to par with what they want? It for sure is none of them. IMO IF they do get a game which I highly doubt, it’ll be complete slop and nothing like what they had in envisioned in the first place. The gaming industry is extremely ruthless these days, it is insane to think they can just pop out a game and expect it to sell without doing any work themselves.
