I went to a clinic today to get a basic health certificate signed — nothing complicated, just needed a general MBBS doctor to stamp it for university. My sister also goes to the same clinic for treatment, but I wasn’t there as a patient. I had my own format and everything ready.
While I was waiting, the gynecologist’s assistant called me in. I hesitated because I knew the gynec wasn’t the right doctor to certify my form, but I figured they’d redirect me or at least tell me what to do next. So I walked in.
I politely told the gynec that I needed an MBBS signature on my medical certificate, not a specialist’s. She said, “Wait 10 minutes.” I said okay and went back to wait — no drama, no fuss.
Then my sister (who’s the actual patient of the gynec) was called in. And when she came out… she tells me the doctor said:
“Tumhari behen ko kuch samajh mein nahi aata hai kya?”
TRANSLATION: (Does your sister not understand anything?)
Excuse me??? I didn’t just walk in randomly — your own assistant called me. I was polite, respectful, just trying to get my work done like a normal adult. And instead of just clarifying or moving on, you insult me behind my back?
Honestly? That stung. I didn’t argue, I didn’t create a scene. I even waited patiently after being brushed off. And I’m the one who gets disrespected?
And the best part? I’m a paying client.
I was literally there to get something done, not to waste anyone’s time.
It wasn’t even that big of a deal, but it messed with my mood so bad. Felt small, felt stupid, felt like I should’ve just kept quiet and never gone in. I left feeling humiliated for no reason and quietly promised myself I’ll never step into that clinic again.
It’s wild how such small, dismissive comments from someone in a position of power can completely ruin someone’s day — or even shake their confidence. You never know what someone’s already dealing with, and then you go and treat them like they’re nothing?
Anyway. I needed to let this out.
Comments
They just felt snubbed by you and instead of realizing their mistake or realizing that they are not qualified of addressing your issue, they did the desi thing and tried to belittle you to your sister.
If you’d been the one at fault, they’d have said it to your face. But you weren’t so they tried to twist the narrative.
