I wanted legal advice when I go to court next month in august. My grandparents kicked my girlfriend and I out because we called the police because my brother assaulted me and I recorded the whole thing on my phone and showed the police. Since the police sided with me my grandparents kicked us out and we got a citation for failure to vacat. The thing is the notice to vacat said we had to leave June 18 and we had 10 days to leave. She said we could stay. Then on July 10 she kicked us out with the same notice to vacat because I called the police. Now, we have to go to court. I have evidence she let us stay after the 18 of June and also a good argument on why she waited 23 days to get that notarized. I also have the police report and I’m going the legal route of retaliation. Any advice or thoughts?

She is allowed to retaliate in this manner. She has to go through the eviction process. A notice to vacate is simply the first step.
Did you pay rent at all? If so, how often (once a week, once a month)?
It’s legal retaliation, just depends on the details how long you have.
