Grocery baggers who tie the handles of every bag aren’t good at their jobs

r/

Just picked up a Meijer order and every single bag was tied in a double knot at the handles, making them nearly impossible to open normally. Most bags are absolutely stuffed with my purchases too, as if there’s a shortage of plastic bags. Properly packed groceries shouldn’t need this level of care, it’s overkill. If a bag is so stuffed that it requires a double knot, there’s too many items in the bag.

We need to bring back any amount of training for cashiers and baggers and actually make bagger it’s own position again.

Better than not doing it and you as the customer spill your shit all over the parking lot then blame the Bag Person

Not sure if it’s indicative of incompetence… I might see some of the frustration if you want to reuse the bags (some people use them for bathroom trashcans, lunches, etc.) and keeping them in tact is important but otherwise, weird hill to choose.

So you’re complaining because they’re taking too much care with your groceries?

Wait…you guys have baggers at your Meijer?

I hope you shared this feedback to the store in a polite way. Do you want an improved experience or did you just need a place for r/venting?

You picked up the order. They bagged the order so nothing would fall out.

Untying the plastic grocery bag knots is the easiest. Twist one of the ends and push it through I’ve never had an issue with them.

Your grocery store still has baggers?

i straight up dont let other people bag my groceries. i know what is more efficient and effective for my own purchases. easier to insist on bagging your own when you bring your own bags anywho.

The only time I think of a store needing to tie a bag shut is if there are things people could shoplift buy sneaking in the bag on the way out of the store.
