One of life’s greatest questions. Here to be answered on Reddit today. Thank you kindly. 🙏

  2. AzuSteve Avatar

Probably the feeling of power they get knowing they’ve affected someone’s day. Pricks.

  3. MonaAndChat Avatar

They’re usually trying to achieve an ego boost by making a woman feel uncomfortable or threatened. It’s the same reason men catcall women.

  4. IamYouAreWeUs Avatar

We know it impresses them very much! Especially if our engines are real loud and we rev it over and over.

    To be seen really

I will say that I’ve never catcalled a woman nor have I honked on them but i can hope that people who do are trying to give her an ego boost. Like damn girl you got it going on. When i was about 14 a group of girls drove by me and yelled out the window “Hey blondie hit me up when you turn 16!”. I’m 50 now and i still think about that day.

  9. Puzzled_Muzzled Avatar

Not sure those guys are in this app.

  10. Separate-Canary559 Avatar

Lmao the question was directed at men but only women answered 😂

  11. tapedficus Avatar

I had no idea that this was a thing.

  12. JJOne101 Avatar

That she doesn’t back up right into my car when she leaves the parking spot. Happened yesterday evening.

  13. Negative-Base-2477 Avatar

In a fun way to let them know they got it.

Did this recently in soho, 3 hot young drunk chicks were hyped up waving and hollering back.

For me it’s just a flirty thing

  14. Independent-Buyer827 Avatar

We just want to let them know we’re horny.

  15. Showdown5618 Avatar

I’m guessing that they hope that the girl will turn to look at them and instantly fall in love.

  16. Pale_Height_1251 Avatar

I remember seeing somewhere that it’s basically a numbers game. They get ignored 90% of the time, an unfavourable reaction 9% of the time, and a favourable reaction 1% of the time. The men who catcall do actually get some success some of the time.

  17. TheZookeeper31 Avatar

Let them know we crazy and they hot af Bing bong boop I wish they suck my D but I know they never will let it all out there end the night crying in sadness but still have a hope for getting my D sucked tomorrow RIP

  18. AnfowleaAnima Avatar

They want to express themselves, it doesn’t matter if the other woman replies back. It’s like you just tell something to someone, they want to tell them they are pretty, they feel good acting on that strong urge, that’s it. It ends up being absolutely unappropriate and shouldn’t be done? That’s correct also.

  19. MadSyd Avatar

I’m hoping they’ll stop driving into the oncoming traffic.

  20. OnTheList-YouTube Avatar

That’s one of the things in life that makes my blood boil instantaneously. And I’m a guy. It’s beyond being a loser, the only thing they achieve is making a (most times a) teenager feel uncomfortable and unsafe! All because they act like a dumbass with an IQ not higher than that of used toilet paper.

  21. country2poplarbeef Avatar

I had a friend that was like this. They’re looking for general attention, whether it’s a hookup, flirting, disgust, whatever is on the spectrum. In a way, it works because they build up this shield of indifference and a lack of self awareness that allows them to just play the numbers game. Ten women might sneer at him as he shouts out the car window, but the eleventh might smile and give him the attention he wants. And even if that doesn’t happen, it’s part of the overall package of him not really having a filter and knowing what he can get away with.

  22. leaponover Avatar

A look at their face to see if it is as good as the body, I’m guessing. I don’t do that personally.

  23. loricomments Avatar

They getting a thrill out of the harassment. It makes them feel good to make others feel bad. They’re just pathetic bullies.

  26. DM_ME_4_FREE_STOCKS Avatar

One guy i knew who did this said he was hoping girls would show their boobs.

  27. zDraxi Avatar

    It doesn’t have a reason.

It’s a stupid act done by stupid people.

Per definition, stupidity doesn’t have a reason, it doesn’t make sense, it doesn’t have an objective, it doesn’t have logic, that’s what makes stupidity, stupidity.

Hi, I am a guy, i do not have a driving license yet, but I did take the theory test and passed. so take my answer how you would.

Based on the question posted and the theory lessons I took. the only reason to honk is to prevent an accident. So that must have been it.

I’ve honked at several women before. I was hoping to get them out of the way. This was near a college campus on frat row, it was like 2:00 am, the cops had set up a “checkpoint” like 100 feet from where I lived and I didn’t want to deal with it. They were drunk and were walking through the middle of the intersection (we had one of those intersections where you could cross diagonally, but this was not one of them), and I was just getting back from Steak and Shake with a bunch of friends. I had dropped off three people. I was a junior. And these freshman girls, wearing next to nothing in what I would describe as “polar” staggered out and clearly wanted to avoid the checkpoint, too. But they stood there in the middle of the intersection trying to think it out.

Similar story, only this was around 11:00 and I was doing a late night pizza run. A gaggle of girls – like 5-6 – were out at a different intersection and jaywalked right in front of my car as I’m turning. They took my horn very personally and stood there for like 20 seconds looking at me like I had just done something absolutely horrific.

So I wanted to get them out of the way.

Same thing as any animal that chirps or hollers randomly in nature.

The car is the pretty feathers.

  32. IsmaelAlfreto Avatar

I’ve never done it, nor will I, but I think it’s just like a way to say they look good. I don’t think they’re really expecting to achieve anything other than give a good looking girl a compliment on how she’s looking.

  33. Ill_Wrongdoer9357 Avatar

I never did that and that’s disrespectful.

  34. JustNoGuy_ Avatar

My mate does that. He’s been trapped in his miserable relationship for 15 years. Every time he sees a woman he’s honking, saying, look at the buns on that and all kinds of cringy shit, his girlfriend is my sister as well.

He’s 100% cheated on my sister.

  35. -Weeksy Avatar

I knew a fellow who was female to male trans. He did it as a form of gender affirmation.

  39. Due_Phase_1430 Avatar

I watched my Dad do it growing up. To my it’s funny, maybe it says “hey cutie”.

But I was thinking. Is this rude? Do women hate it?

  40. shiroboi Avatar

Primitive man-brain excited when see pretty girl. Mouth filter no work.

Clearly a lift of their top and certainly a second date.

  43. ZingZangMingMang Avatar

Lesbians that honk as they drive past girls, what do you hope to achieve?

  44. blinkysmurf Avatar

They aren’t necessarily trying to achieve anything, they just don’t have the grace to keep to themselves what most men are thinking when they see attractive girls/women.

  45. JayBlastStatic Avatar

That they will start driving better. Just kidding.

  46. k4ndlej4ck Avatar

That they move out of the way.

  47. 7Mooseman2 Avatar

I’m guessing it’s to compliment her

  48. Upleftdownright70 Avatar

I’ve never witnessed honking at women by men, but I had a carful of women honking and cheering at me once. So I suppose it likely happens vice verse.

I don’t believe they were trying to attract me.
