Newborn is almost 3 weeks old. He is a good sleeper during the day for the most part. He sleeps in a bassinet in the livingroom during the day, so he is exposed to all kinds of light and noise and chaos from the family life around. Sleeps like a rock, sometimes we have to wake him to feed him.
As soon as mom wants to sleep, the bassinet in our room is not chaotic enough. We have a fan going, tried leaving a lamp and radio on, but he just won’t sleep in there. The kid just needs actual house noise. But, husband and I just cannot sleep at the level of base chaos this kid apparently craves. I need tips.

One trick I found super helpful was playing a white noise from Youtube that mimics background noise, like a fan or even a heartbeat sound. That way, it creates a more familiar sound environment for baby, but it’s not too loud for you and your husband. Some babies just love that constant hum of noise!
Also, try to make the nighttime routine as consistent as possible. I know it’s hard when they’re still so little, but even dimming the lights in the room, swaddling (if he likes it), and giving him a warm bath can signal that it’s time to wind down. It’s all about helping them start to distinguish between day and night!
