Had a awake brain surgery done 10 days ago AMA

r/

I had a tumor (benign) near the speech part of my brain. I underwent an awake craniotomy to have it removed and to make sure the removal didn’t cause any brain damage. Surgery took 9 hours. AMA

    1. Were you in conversation with someone in the OR the whole time or only prompted to speak at certain times during the surgery?
    2. Did the surgeon play any music?
    3. How’s recovery going?

on a scale of 1 to 10 how uncomfortable is it to be awake while your brain is opened up

I wish you a very long and healthy blessed life ahead.
My question is how did you learn or how was the message relayed to you that they will do a brain surgery on you. Like what did it feel like hearing it and then the days leading up to it?
