It’s already awkward if people are singing at you, it’s even more awkward if the person singing at you is trying to show off their voice. “Happy Birthday” sounds best when it is sang horribly and enthusiastically. No one likes a tryhard.

It’s not so much a good singer that’s the problem, it’s the people who want others to think/know they are a good singer and go over and above, or straight up sing it differently to get attention
