[Happy Feet] Why did Mumble push Gloria away?

r/

After Mumble was banished from the banished from the emperor nation, he set out to find the “aliens” who’d been stealing their fish. But then Gloria caught up with them and said that she wanted to accompany them on their quest. But Mumble didn’t want to put her life in danger and chased her away to make her go back to the colony.

Here’s my issue……………….aren’t the females usually the ones who go hunting? They probably face down dozens of dangers on a regular basis out at sea while the males stay home looking after the eggs, so I’m not exactly sure what his line of thinking was here. Also, literally the first thing Mumble when he was hatched was almost die and that ALL he did throughout the entire film.

Endanger her life? SHE’D BE SAVING YOUR LIFE DUMBASS!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, why didn’t he consider this?

The male and female penguins take turns, while the eggs are being incubated, post hatching.

Males will put on body fat reserves to see them through the height of winter, but they still hunt once the female returns to the hatchling or to take over incubation.
