Location: Texas. I’m a 35-year-old male living in Texas. I was in a relationship with a 36-year-old woman in California for 3 years (last 1.5 years were long-distance). We broke up at the end of 2024.
Since then, she has been contacting me daily using text-free numbers and alias emails. The behavior has escalated to harassment and threats, including:
•Telling me she “hopes I die.”
•Using vulgar and abusive language.
•Saying she will “make my life miserable.”
•Threatening to send intimate videos of us to my current girlfriend.
Steps I’ve taken so far:
•Filed a police report in my Texas city.
•Tried to obtain a protective order, but the DA’s office said the threats were not “imminent or dangerous enough.”
•Police advised me to wait for a detective to review my report due to high caseloads.
•Changed my phone number, but harassment continues via email.
My questions:
Beyond continuing to document everything, are there other legal steps I should be taking now?
This situation is taking a toll on me. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any suggestions, legal steps, or resources you recommend? Any insight would be appreciated.
