Has anyone else noticed that a lot of your facebook friends haven’t posted anything in months or years?

r/

I was scrolling through my Facebook the other day and realized that a huge chunk of my friends list has gone completely silent—like, no posts, no updates, not even a profile pic change in years. It’s almost eerie. I know people have moved over to Instagram, TikTok, etc., but it feels like Facebook turned into a ghost town for personal posts.

Is this just me, or has anyone else noticed the same thing? Do people just lurk now or have they fully dipped?

Being getting tired of it I believe …it’s been around of 20 years now …back then it literally was all we had for social media ….now there is tik tok , REDDIT, instagram etc

  2. Desirai Avatar

I found a lot of them died

  3. azuth89 Avatar

I used it in college when everyone insisted on FB groups for projects and stuff. Didn’t log in for years afterwards until I finally got around to deleting it.

Lots of people soft quit platforms.

  4. Temporary_Tune5430 Avatar

Recently joined to sell some stuff on marketplace. Fkn site is annoying. So much spam/bots.

  5. Tough_Crazy_8362 Avatar

My posting has been intermittent for quite a while because it’s just everyone ranting and complaining. Once my account hit 20 years I went dark for good.

  6. cylondsay Avatar

it’s bulky, not intuitive, and filled with my family members posting bad MAGA memes. it doesn’t even look cute. it takes 500 years to load. i haven’t deleted it bc it’s my historical archive at this point 😂 but the only time i open it is when i click it accidentally when i’m trying to open the app next to it

  7. Pastadseven Avatar

Dunno, havent been on facebook for like a decade.

  8. buginarugsnug Avatar

I only still have Facebook because my family uses the messenger app so it’s helpful to keep in touch. The only facebook friends that I see posting are those 55+

  9. weary_bee479 Avatar

I only use Facebook for marketplace so I never update anything 🤣

  10. Roselily808 Avatar

Facebook has ruined it’s own feed. All you get to see nowadays are sponsored posts and profile suggestions. You never get to see any activity from your friends. This, I think, has led to people just not bothering to post anymore. Because you know that your friends will not see it in their feed anyways.

I log into Facebook mainly to see what local events are available. I no longer use it to catch up with my friends.

  11. ExtraSalty0 Avatar

I use Facebook to post in fb groups. I have no reason to update my personal page or profile pic.

  12. cthulhusmercy Avatar

I’ve noticed this myself. Every so often I see an actual post, but it’s mostly my older users (family/family friends) posting personal updates, cross posts from IG, and “group” posts.

  13. Sweet_Measurement338 Avatar

My last update on facebook was in 2019…

  14. SeymourScratch100 Avatar

Yeah and people are more informed about how social media can negatively effect the brain & it’s just played out, making a fb post doesn’t give u the same dopamine rush it used to..

  15. And_Justice Avatar

I keep seeing threads like this recently from people who seem to have not realised that the vast majority of people under 40 left facebook near 5 years ago

  16. dcontrerasm Avatar

It’s my second most used glorified notes and rants app after Reddit.

  17. DeeFlor19 Avatar

I use FB and IG. I rarely post. Sometimes, I’ll share an actual story other times, just a reel. I like to keep my private life private and have decided to stop posting actual posts for the sake of my family. I also keep everything private. You just never know who’s watching.

  18. MamaLlama629 Avatar

    Hi! That’s me! I’m the friend you’re talking about!🙋🏻‍♀️

  19. onomastics88 Avatar

You almost always have to go to notifications to see anything your actual friends have posted. I don’t even reliably see any pages on my feed that I have liked or followed. It’s like some impersonal magazine now. Some of it might be interesting to read, but I wasn’t looking for it. One time I liked a suggested page and that’s not coming in my feed anymore either, just a lot of content and content creators I’ve never heard of, counterfeit pages claiming to be someone famous or supporting famous person, so if you like David Attenborough, for example, or George Takei, I’ve seen several people posting repetitive nonsense that are not official. I didn’t go looking or follow any of this but it’s all over my feed and what few friends I do connect with or pages I intentionally like are hidden in notifications if they post anything new.

  20. SouthernManagement54 Avatar

I’m one of them. I got away from fb a year ago

  21. Brilliant_Canary8756 Avatar

personally i don’t post on any of my social media that people irl can see i odnt want them knowing anything about my life

i was so obsessed with social media when i was younger since it was just getting bigger when i was in highschool , but now as an adult i just want to be private and i dont want to share what im doing on there anymore. If you dont know what im doing because we dont actually talk then you dont need to know what im doing

  22. jeophys152 Avatar

I’m one of those that hasn’t posted in years. I think a lot of us are sick of Meta’s BS

“During his testimony, Zuckerberg admitted that the social network that made him a billionaire is no longer what it used to be. Today, he explained, Meta is no longer about personal relationships. Meta is focused on content, discovering viral trends, and following global conversations.”

It’s not a social media site. It’s just a media site.

  24. calm-down-okay Avatar

The real question is why are YOU still there? Facebook is actively destroying society and the people who noticed that left.

Facebook currently functions exclusively to brainrot elderly people. Every time I’m forced to log in for some reason or another, I have to see my relatives reposting AI Jesus nonsense and it just makes me sad.

  25. High_Hunter3430 Avatar

Hi. I fully dipped but haven’t pulled my old photos off yet so I log in once every 3-6 months to keep my account.

That’s it. I don’t scroll, I don’t look for people, hell I don’t even have the app, I log in via browser. 😂

  26. Redgrapefruitrage Avatar

I’ve not used Facebook for 5 years now, neither has my husband and most of our friends have either deleted their accounts or just don’t use them. If they do use social media, our friends lean towards Instagram instead.

The only people I know who use them are my 55 year old step-mum who just posts memes, recipes, and pointless posts that no-one was asking for.

I only keep my Facebook account for buying second hand goods on marketplace and for messenger, as a handful of people I know communicate that way.

  27. wandering__willows Avatar

Basically just keep it for marketplace at this point and a “phone book” of sorts for some friends and contacts I don’t talk to maybe as often 🤷‍♀️

It hasn’t been a social media or genuinely interactive in at least a decade. It’s just endless scrolling of ads you don’t want to see before you MAYBE see a post from someone you give a crap about that’s remotely interesting.

It will soon face the same death as MySpace and many others.

  28. feetofskill Avatar

The only reason I’ve kept mine open is because of the FB memories that pop up of my late husband. I rarely post anything because of reasons already shared by others. FB is a joke & has been for years

  29. timothypjr Avatar

I can’t speak for others, but I have dipped. The ONLY reason I haven’t shuttered the account is that I have a friend who messages me there from time to time. He’s a bit of an odd duck (but I love him) and he won’t get a cell phone. I haven’t posted on Fb since the election and won’t do so again.

  30. WhiskeyRadio Avatar

Like most people I have it for keeping track of events with friends and family. I also use the marketplace from time to time. I very rarely post or comment on anything though. I just don’t care and haven’t in probably 10 years or longer now.

  32. Beneficial-Cow-2544 Avatar

Not on my end, my feed is still pretty active with people who want everyone to know all the details of their lives, what’s on their minds, what they eat for dinner, how they spent their weekend, etc.

I am one of the few who has gone quiet. Cause I finally realized NOBODY CARES!!!!

  33. sherilaugh Avatar

The only thing I use Facebook for is a photo album of memories.
I kinda love seeing my memories each day of fun things I’ve done.
I mostly only post thing I want to be reminded of, fun things I’ve done with my kids etc.

  34. notthegoatseguy Avatar

Facebook is basically Reddit nowadays with the focus on Groups and Pages rather than individual user profiles.

  35. Rabbitron4 Avatar

Most of my actual friends have deleted their accounts.

  36. daftl0rd Avatar

In my experience it depends on your age. I’m in my late 20s and everyone I know around my age is no longer on facebook. I mostly see older people 40+ on it and are quite active on it

  37. Expert-Crazy-9106 Avatar

There’s a convoluted way to go to “feeds” to see only what your friends have posted. Three lines at top right, see more, feeds, friends tab.

  38. GWindborn Avatar

Facebook can either turn into a cesspool of hate or an echo chamber.. It’s a trap. Just walk away like they did.

  39. joewHEElAr Avatar

  40. Maleficent_Count6205 Avatar

I put my Facebook main to sleep and have kept messenger working for 2 years now and never going back. Perhaps your friends have done similar 😅

  41. anythingaustin Avatar

I fully dipped out of FB some 10-12 years ago. My boomer parents still use it and have brain rot from the q-anon algorithms.

  42. 9_of_Swords Avatar

Yup! And any events or gatherings pop up in my feed 2 days after it happened. I miss out on so much because it’s never in chronological order.

  43. Bart2800 Avatar

Facebook? That’s still around? Left it ages ago.

  44. According-Sand5874 Avatar

(F58)I don’t either, lol. I go on there maybe five times a year. I have life g I ING on, not worried about constant social media posting.

  45. revelling_ Avatar

I am one of those people. Don’t lurk, either. Once every couple of months I remember Facebook, log in, see a timeline that has nothing to do with me, full of suggested posts that are as far removed from my interests as can be (and I have used FB a lot in the past, they should know what I like).
It’s ridiculously random. So I close it and go about my day. Till the next time.

  46. G30fff Avatar

I deleted my 2007 account years ago but then moved to a small town and Facebook was required for all the goings on, so made an account in a fake name to access that.

Facebook is different now, it’s all about groups, not individual pages and stuffed to the gills with stupid boomers being amazed by AI videos and images of obviously fake happenings.

  47. vampirelibrarian Avatar

I use Facebook for posting to groups but I haven’t posted to my feed in years. I don’t use other social media though that way either.

  48. jnesquick Avatar

    facebook sucks

  49. implodemode Avatar

During covid – there was just so much crap and no posts from people I knew, I checked out. I actually have family and friends who post regularly – I just haven’t looked for years.

  50. Green-Dragon-14 Avatar

I deactivated my account over 4 years ago & only 2 people noticed.

  51. dorkigoddess Avatar

I only keep Facebook because it’s required to play the Oculus Quest that I have. If I ever get rid of that, Facebook is going too.

  52. TrueIllusion366 Avatar

Most of my friends are busy with offline life and have just grown out of social media (they hardly post anywhere else either).

  53. esweat Avatar

Are they really quiet, or is it just FB not feeding stuff to you?

Visit your friends’ FB walls directly. You may be surprised to see activity you haven’t seen on your feed. 😉

  54. OMGDaFuk Avatar

I’m still on Facebook, but I have not posted or reacted to anything in years. My life has changed, my friends groups have changed, I still like to see what’s being posted, but I got very tired of having people IRL comment on things I was posting on my page. I decided to stop advertising my life and now I just peruse the posts that are out there. I figure it won’t be long before I’m completely off the platform altogether.

  55. rhntr_902 Avatar

I’m one of those people. lol. I used to use FB quite frequently and I just kinda, stopped. I find most people on FB are overly aggressive and pushy about things, and the amount of misinformation being presented as factual on there is wild.

Plus I’ve noticed the people on my list who do use it the most are very, radical, on their beliefs to say the least. So I just stay away.

  56. IMnotaRobot55555 Avatar

I stopped using it after the Cambridge analytica scandal showed how willing they were to throw us under the bus for profit.

Ditto twitter, which I issued to love but is garbage like fb now.

Probably not long for Reddit either but it’s the only one I use now

  57. LookinAtTheFjord Avatar

I basically just scroll it for entertainment news but even that shit is bogged down by bullshit ads every 3rd post. It’s dog shit.

  58. Even_Regular5245 Avatar

I use mine for talking with friends, still, but there are definitely friends that I’ve checked up on that have not posted in such a long time. The biggest use is groups.

  59. Wooden-Glove-2384 Avatar

Me too although I’ve snoozed a whole bunch

  60. octopop Avatar

haven’t posted in years and kind of want to delete mine, but I think it’s linked with my instagram and i can’t really be bothered to look into it lol

  61. Lennyisback81 Avatar

He fucked up a platform that was made well enough to connect people, can’t steal shit and let it be.

  62. Pitch-North Avatar

I was just on Facebook last night and thought the same thing. It’s a ghost town, my feed was full of my older family member posting, that’s it, my schoolmates and old friends haven’t posted in months or years.

  63. snailenkeller Avatar

I swore off socials (besides Reddit) back in January of 2022. Don’t miss them at all. Haven’t logged in to my Facebook since I left 3 years ago.

  64. doodledoodledoooo Avatar

It won’t let me delete my account. I’ve tried probably 50 times and it just gives me an error message.

  65. Practical_Knowledge8 Avatar

It’s the yellow pages of the internet… Full of junk.

  66. 60PersonDanceCrew Avatar

I only keep it for a food allergy group and my kid’s school parent group. I wanted to keep liking the people I liked in high school so I had to disengage.

  67. They-Call-Me-Taylor Avatar

No, because I don’t use Facebook anymore haha. I basically just keep the app in case I want to sell something on Marketplace or give something away in our neighborhood Buy Nothing group.

  68. wolfysworld Avatar

I only keep social media for certain groups and never post or add pictures

  69. Alasdair91 Avatar

  71. JBN2337C Avatar

The default “feed” is AI, sponsored content, ads, and 90% “Not my friends posts”.

Those who remain won’t quit with non-stop political posts, and protesting, making the whole experience insufferable.

  72. Regular_Eye_3529 Avatar

I have not logged in for years. After learning about the Cambridge incident I no longer support FB, Meta, Instagram, WhatsApp

  76. Primary_Sink_ Avatar

I deleted everything off my Facebook profile and left it desolate, people started contacting my mum asking if I had passed away 😂

  77. CarlitoManson Avatar

Always weird to see people posting Happy Birthday on pages from dead people….

  78. Trevor03 Avatar

It’s remarkable how drastically Facebook fell off.

Friends don’t post anymore. Tons with deactivated/deleted profiles.

    Sponsored posts galore. AI-everything.

No one uses it to create events anymore. Rarely do I see group conversations anymore.

The posts that remain are usually political, or self-promoting something.

The only redeeming factor is Marketplace.

  79. cottoncandymandy Avatar

I HATE Facebook. I haven’t been on in years. 🤷‍♀️
The algorithm is horrible, and too many people ride high horses and/or are complete idiots.

  80. Ortsarecool Avatar

I technically still have a facebook account (though I would probably need to recover the password)

Haven’t touched it in about 10 years

  81. j9er26 Avatar

I deleted my Facebook account in 2016 when all the propaganda and divisiveness was amplified by the algorithm. Facebook is a dumpster fire.

  82. phishmademedoit Avatar

I got rid of my Facebook in 2013. Last year, my friend told me it was still visible. I think clicking on a meta site may have reactivated it. I had to go back on and fully delete it, which was a pain in the butt. Some of these people might not even know their page still exists or couldn’t figure out how to delete it.

  83. Big_Lynx119 Avatar

I’m older and suspect that maybe some of the friends who no longer post may have died. I’m not dead yet, but personally post far less frequently on FB that I used to.

Also, the way FB is now, I see more garbage from strangers and various junk pages, than I do from people on my friends list. I see lots of total garbage reels and rage bait nonsense.

  84. loconessmonster Avatar

I only have social media because it’s got a chokehold on being social in society. I maintain the bare minimum in order to “exist socially”: profile picture, some older pictures with friends to show that I’m a normal person, some reposts of memes, once in a blue moon post something that gets absolutely no views basically.

Everyone who meets you wants to see your socials. Moreso if you’re actively trying to make new friends. Regardless of how you feel about social media and its effects on people, I don’t see this reality changing any time soon. I’m just happy that it’s socially acceptable at my age to have social media but not be actively posting at all.

  85. Ok_Concentrate4461 Avatar

I completely dipped on January 20…

  86. brit_brat915 Avatar

    I have facebook…but I just lurk.

I’ll change my picture from time to time…that’s really it.

I don’t care to share my day…or really any aspect of my life like that anymore 🤷🏽‍♀️

I don’t have any other social media accounts either 🤷🏽‍♀️ (reddit doesn’t count lol)

I’ve just gotten to a point where I really don’t care what others are doing…because it’s always the same timeshare condo on the same beach…it’s always a basic ass meal at a basic ass restaurant they’re checking into…nothing more than a snooze fest OR random pages suggested to me.

  87. Impressive_Owl3903 Avatar

I deactivated my account a few months ago because all I was seeing was sponsored posts and posts from accounts I wasn’t following. Didn’t fully delete because I use Messenger to keep up with some friends but I don’t miss it at all

  88. Confusedsoul2292 Avatar

    Lol. I’m that person!
    I’ve moved on to Instagram.

  89. JenZ99 Avatar

Haven’t posted on my FB or IG feed in 5 years. Seems boring. I Only post in private interest groups.

  90. noblewind Avatar

Yes. I still post but it’s mostly so I get memories years later and it’s an extra backup for photos. I also used to like the events section. I would scroll through that and find all sorts of things to do with my kids. Now hardly any festivals, businesses, communities use that to advertise things.

  91. cassneedscoffee Avatar

I made one post on Facebook last year. My goal is to make zero posts this year. I spend, maybe, 5 minutes a week on Facebook. It’s really become completely useless to me.

  92. attillathehoney Avatar

Mark Zuckerberg has stated that Facebook is not primarily for connecting with friends anymore. He testified in court that the platform has evolved into more of a “broad discovery and entertainment space,” suggesting it’s no longer solely about sharing content with friends. i.e it is a media site, not a social media site.

  93. Zimlun Avatar

Facebook never even shows me when my friends do make the rare post, the algorithm prefers to spam me with infuriating”suggested” junk to drive negative engagement, facebook shorts from people I don’t know, and ads for products I don’t care about. Also constantly defaulting back to the top of the feed makes it impossible to see anything that isn’t near the top.

I miss back when I could just log in and see a chronological list of posts made by my friends and family… But I guess that doesn’t make them money.

These days I keep it around to have a way to contact old acquaintances and distant family.

  94. SeaSaltCoconut Avatar

I think they’ve realized that they don’t want to share personal info with Facebook because they just have stolen all our information for years

  95. adjectivebear Avatar

I exclusively post to my office’s FB pages, and that’s only because it’s part of my job to do so. I haven’t touched my own page in over a year.

  96. WitchoftheMossBog Avatar

I only use Facebook for like, one specific group for a specific interest. I lost the login to my original profile years ago, and I haven’t been able to figure out how to get back in, so it lies abandoned. I had to make a new profile.

Facebook is so shit now. It was so fun when it first became a thing, and now most of it is just… bad. If it weren’t for that one group, I’d never go back.

  97. Arduous_Aardvark Avatar

I rejoined recently after deleting for 6 years and it’s even worse than I remember. Full of shitty ads.

  98. Sgt-Shisha Avatar

Because Reddit is all I need. I still have FB but rarely post anymore.

I really only keep it because of videos.

  99. No_Rest427 Avatar

I don’t think anyone uses Facebook to keep up with friends or family anymore. A lot of people just have it for marketplace. I only haven’t deactivated my account so I don’t lose almost 15 years of memories and photos

  100. Uruguaianense Avatar

I had a group with 35 thousand people. They helped each other and was a nice place. But I think Facebook got ruined when people made meme pages and it got about showing funny memes instead of your own life. Later they got those pages more visibility and put more advertising. I miss the old facebook (and miss even more Orkut).

  101. HauntingHarmonie Avatar

I feel like a dummy, but I recently realized if you scroll one tab over you get all your friends posts and no sponsored ones 😅

  104. _Nature_Inspired_ Avatar

my facebook feed is driving me crazy! topics and groups that interest me for some reason don’t appear in my feed, although I actively read and comment on them, but a huge amount of spam and advertising appears in my feed every day, I don’t understand how to fix it!

  105. No_Week_8937 Avatar

My Facebook feed is full of crap now. I rarely visit and don’t miss it at all.

  107. bdschuler Avatar

I noticed it too. Facebook is dying, thankfully. It ends up posting on Facebook was a trend overall and that era appears to be over.

I think Facebook did lots of things that drove it’s users away.. and then once the tide had shifted.. they were surprised at how quickly the people left.

I still keep my account.. as I used it to log in to some websites. But Facebook itself is now up there with Myspace as being historic websites of bygone days.

  108. S2Sallie Avatar

Idk about anyone else but I dipped out a few years ago

  109. Razberri97 Avatar

Younger people don’t use Facebook. It’s mostly older people. And it seems like more & more people are deciding that Zuckerberg doesn’t need their time, attention & money.

My brother told me the other day that his last “not Facebook friend” had passed away. It hit me as being Facebooks average user.

  110. BurantX40 Avatar

That includes me too! I had the decency to change my profile pic to “Sorry, we’re closed”

  111. superschaap81 Avatar

If I eventually DO see a post from a friend or family, I have to see WHEN it was posted because a lot of the time its days old by the time it’s reached me.

I use it as a photo album to clear space on my phone and for FB Marketplace.

  112. Ok_Veterinarian_3082 Avatar

  113. desertdweller2011 Avatar

yes because it’s all AI nonsense and misinformation and data theft and garbage. i’m surprised when people DO use facebook.

  114. XxThrowaway987xX Avatar

That’s me. I actually stopped using FB in Trump’s first term (2017). It was just too toxic, and seeing the dumbass things people posted who I thought were good humans was really getting to me. I figured I’d rather judge them on their actions than their dumb memes.

I meant to delete it, but never did. I started to find that a few orgs I was in used exclusively FB for communications. I tried to avoid it as much as possible, but kept the account.

Now that Craigslist is dead, I find myself using FB Marketplace to sell my ish. I’m still hoping to delete my account permanently by the end of the year.

  115. Doggoonewild Avatar

Started around when the poisoning by Fox News and further right wing rage bait outlets and fake posts fooled older people who originally got on there just to see their grandkids pictures. They started reposting nonsense like “giant migrant caravans are coming to my front door!!!” and ironically a lot of people just migrated away from Facebook.

  116. Brilliant_Steak_1328 Avatar

Instagram is like this too, no one posts anymore, me included. It just feels weird

  117. Effective_Stranger85 Avatar

There are some groups that I’m in on Facebook that I like to check in on and a couple of old friends/family members who are still active, but I pretty much only log in to clear notifications these days. I don’t remember the last time I posted an update. When Zuckerberg said that Meta would no longer fact-check I basically gave up on all of my Meta accounts. I’m hardly on Instagram, either but, then again, I never really was that active on there. It’s sad because I was able to stay in touch with a lot of people really easily, but I don’t want to support it any longer.

  118. OrangeTangie Avatar

I fully deleted my account in January when I saw how up trumps ass Zuckerborg was. Requested all my data, did a screen recording of the home page/my account so I can remember what it looked like and haven’t missed it since.

  119. mikadogar Avatar

  120. juliotendo Avatar

Facebook now is just another modern day version of Yahoo. It exists to serve up “content” and click-bait, along with other various types of internet bullshit / trends. The amount of garbage in my feed is astounding, and no matter how hard I try to curate it or clean it up, it just gets worse.

  121. Above-new-zealand Avatar

It’s definitely happened with me, and as someone who hasn’t posted on Facebook regularly for about four years I’m part of the problem. But it’s definitely been a downward spiral.

1: THE SHIFT AWAY FROM FRIENDS IN YOUR FEED

Facebook did deliberately make a shift away from friends’ posts in the feed to groups and pages around 2016 because they wanted more engagement and they found that this worked better than showing people their friends’ kids or whatever.

This may also have been linked to the growing divisions in US (and Western) society with the rise of rightwing populism; people falling out with their racist uncles, etc.

    2: AUDIENCE FLIGHT

Since then, younger people have fled FB (or just not bothered signing up) for TikTok and millennials have drifted away because they’re busy with kids/not interested in groups/distrustful of algorithms/also on TikTok/you name it.

    3: A.I. SLOP

So Meta have tried to artificially boost engagement by monetising pages – if you have a page that gets enough engagement, they’ll give you money. This has led to slop farms in India and elsewhere that use AI to produce shitty content gibberish (bad pictures of children making Jesuses out of plastic bottles, or veterans in hospital beds or whatever), then run AI bots that add comments and likes to boost engagement, and then collect money from Meta on the back end.

This means that feeds are filling up with meaningless dogshit, making it even less palatable than before for what remains of the regular audience, which is ever dwindling.

I don’t post anything, and now that I’m hiding from family I can’t even comment on stuff because that would show I’ve been using it. I haven’t changed anything in years.

I haven’t posted on Facebook since 2021. It’s all family and friends I haven’t spoken to in decades.

FB is over. Instagram will get there soon enough… my hope is they all implode.

I deleted FB and Instagram for this reason. I miss finding out about events and the marketplace but nothing else. I also don’t like supporting nasty folks like zuck and bezos and the rest. I understand my token deletion doesn’t effect their pocketbook at all, but it made me feel good.

I have personally avoided Facebook since Jan so that includes posting too

That’s because they don’t use it anymore. I stopped posting for 3 years. FB is old. It is outdated.

Fully dipped from all Zuckerberg, Musk and Bezos.

I left it years ago due to the amplification of conservative christians and MAGAs as well as massive amounts of homo and transphobia.

They wanted it? They can have it!

Oh I understand why. I for once, after years of just staying in my Friends & Family bubble, popped it a few days ago and went to the shorts. It was terrible:

    • People criticizing the way a mother does her child’s beautiful damn near 3-foot hair. They let suggesting she cut it because she was doing it too “nappy.”
    • People calling a male cheerleading teacher out for seeming pedophilic even though he was just cheering the girls on.
    • People arguing about what prevents lice in 4C hair (it’s the texture, or else we would have both dandruff and lice).
    • And with shorts about relationships, women acting like men are their servants. When pregnant and raising children, yes, be there for me a bit more pls, but we take care of each other, you don’t suck my nonexistent dick while I leave yours to wilt.

There also is nothing positive worth sharing on FB that is PG enough for your parents to see.

I have been off since the pandemic. I got tired of loosing respect for my friends

I haven’t noticed, but that’s because I’m one of those people and I haven’t been on Facebook for several years.

If they just simply showed me stuff my friends posted, in chronological order, I probably would have stuck with it.

I only have the account for marketplace and messenger now.

I deactivated my FB account 8 years ago. I forgot how much I liked my privacy and being incognito.

I fully dipped and it made a huge difference in my mental health.

  138. Bitter_Elephant_2200 Avatar

I stopped posting to FB & IG. Why bother? Nobody can even see it thanks to the over saturated B.S and Meta punishes us further if we don’t produce daily content. Fuck that.

With the amount of ads and people just screaming into the void all the time, I felt it better for my well-being to avoid the negativity that dominates my Facebook feed.

I left over 10 years ago and bask in the warm glow of not caring what people from my high school are eating for lunch or where my cousin’s friend is on vacation

All I see in my feed is political garbage and stalking ads. Someone told me about the Slate car brand in person. I’ve never heard of it or searched for it on my phone before. After that conversation, my FB feed was filled with ads about the Slate car. Wtf.
