I just had a titanium mesh and bone graft placed in my upper front tooth area, and I haven’t reached the implant stage yet. The doctor said I might have to stick to liquid foods for 1 to 2 years—is that really true? Also, if it gets infected later on, will I have to start everything over again?

It has to be about that much time by now. It’s holding up great. Needed a bone graft but apparently it worked so well that they had to remove some bone holding the post screw when they went to put the actual implant in. Really no issues. If it wasn’t 40 years ago I probably would have had two more done to replace bridgework.
How many teeth are you replacing? I got one years ago when I broke a tooth and never skipped a beat on the foods I ate, I just had to chew on the other side for a while. And it’s worth it- it’s a permanent tooth you don’t think about anymore
Had my upper front teeth replaced about 15 years ago with titanium implants….I had objected to my BIL hitting my sister, I needed new teeth, he needed intensive care, but he left and never touched my sister again. They’ve been great, are still great and cost me nothing.
I had it done about 20 years ago. For me, the implant itself was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life! I guess the freezing didn’t work well so it really hurt and I was quoted like $2k and it was $7k and just so many other issues.
But, the implant itself has held up fine with no issues since then. It is very slightly out of place. You can’t see it but I can feel it with my tongue. It also causes me to bite my lip right there much more than anywhere else. I noticed as they were putting the tooth on and mentioned it but should have been more assertive. Don’t make that mistake.
