TIL that Lima beans have a different name and I’ve been buying and eating Lima beans my whole life(39). Easily my number 1 favorite bean followed by black beans and kidney beans.
In the 2010’s, American record executives decided to re-brand European dance music as ‘EDM’. Before that it was called ‘techno’ or ‘Euro-trash’. But now it was this new thing called ‘EDM’ and it was suitable for the American consumer, even if it was the same Belgian DJ’s doing it.
Another example was re-branding ‘skipping breakfast’ as ‘intermitten fasting’.
Firestone Walker’s 805 beer used to be called Honey Blonde Ale and wasn’t a huge seller of theirs though I’ve always been a fan. When they changed the name in 2012 sales skyrocketed and now it makes up nearly 2/3 of their output.
Aren’t those completely different things? I remember lima beans being green and awful, but butter beans were white and…. bean-ish. I admit that I hate all beans though so maybe my brain mixed them up.
Lima beans are green hard and disgusting; butter beans are beige soft and delicious. They may be from the same species or just at different stages I’m not sure, but they are definitely not interchangeable.
