Have an Opportunity to Gain Wife Points!

MEN!

I have an amazing opportunity to get (myself) laid! – or have my favorite meal made (for me)… (likely the latter)

My refrigerator puts out very slow/low pressure water. I want to figure out how to make it faster. It may be a lost cause, or too expensive to fix. But if you have any low cost solutions, I’d love to know.

This is an example of what I have:

When is the last time you changed the water filter?

    1. Have you ever replaced the water filter in the fridge? Maybe it’s clogged.
    2. Is your pressure good everywhere else? You can try adjusting your pressure regulator house wide, typically near your water heater.
    3. If this is for water bottle filling, consider a waterdrop filter for the sink. No fridge water can compete with the flow rate of the sink.

Why not just a double osmosis filter added next to your sink?

Not that expensive. Tastes better than fridge water.

My understanding is that fridges don’t have pumps or whatever in them, they just rely on the pressure of your house.

So, your options based on the laws of physics are:

    • Increase area
    • Decrease length

Given that, you could try replacing the tube inside the fridge to the wall with a larger diameter one or replace the filter with a higher flow rate one.

I’m skeptical on how easy either will be or how effective they will be.

    r/HydroHomies maybe?

Caution: this may break your fridge but it worked on mine.

Pipe cleaner. As long as you can get. Gently go in from the dispenser and try to clean out any debris that could be in there.

Mine was slowing down (like it was low pressure). I did that and it was back to normal.

The only thing I have not seen mentioned is to check the valve at the wall. It may not be open fully. Then check for any kinks in the hose around back of fridge.

Did it get worse over time or has it always seemed low flow? It is only fed with 1/4″ tubing. Every fridge I have connected seemed low flow to me.

My fridge used to do that until I installed a water softener.
