For the past 4 days I’ve had this weird thing where this person who I don’t know seems to have decided to follow me on my commute and deliberately make me uncomfortable. This person is a short, fat woman with curly red hair who always wears grey tracksuits and has expensive headphones. She’s definitely mentally ill randomly screaming and cursing on the train or kicking the train.
I always walk to the end of the platform to get the quieter empty train carriages. The other day I’m waiting for the train to stop and I hear running, which is weird because the train isn’t going to leave and this dumpy woman darts in front of me so she can get on the train first.
I didn’t want to deal with her that morning so I turned around and just moved to another carriage and as I’m walking away she hurls jabs and taunts at me. It’s like she’s created this rivalry or one-upmanship that doesn’t exist.
Is this something I should go to the police about or is it just some harmless weirdo who I just have to deal with?

I’d report it
This is happening at a station? Report to British Transport Police each time it happens, she is likely a known regular to them:
https://www.btp.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/
Report to BTP as non-emergency. If she bothers you in person call 999
She’s probably mostly harmless but I’d report it anyway just incase it does turn unpleasant. Then your concerns will be already logged.
What would you want the police to do? She’s mentally ill as you say, break your pattern a bit and she’ll probably move on. If it escalates then sure, get the police involved.
It’s difficult to tell based on this, are they following you when they’re not on the train? How many incidents have there been? What sort of jibes were they?
I’ve commuted in the past and ended up travelling with the same person daily because we live and work in similar places, there’s a difference if someone is following you. From what you mentioned it seems she got on the train before you once and was rude about it?
Can you get her to co-sign on rent/mortgage/car loan
Commitment is a scarcity in this economy
Let it happen for a few years, then turn it into a Netflix series.
I’m very confused. You mention one incident. I’m not seeing any stalking here.
Hmm… developing a stalker… interesting idea.
It’s alright baby reindeer
Are they following you on your commute or just getting the same train? Do they get off at the same stop and follow you to work? Do they follow you home on the way back?
You should clarify, as they’re both quite different things.
