Have things gone too far?

r/

wished they realized “Hey! This is not funny or fun anymore, this is getting too real..” but of course that never happened.

I can sort of “excuse” this happening 50+ years ago because people then didn’t have the kind of access to information we do now, but in an era when literally everyone carries a device in their pocket and access to world history is only seconds away, there is no excuse at all. 😡

It’s only been like 3 months. We got a long road yet to walk.

Having more information doesn’t mean you have a better information environment. Say what you will about the 1970s but at least their journalistic institutions were functional.

Unfortunately, more information in a media-illiterate society just means more people believe more lies more easily.

Has what gone too far? That’s an exceptionally vague title.

Well. Everyone carries a device in their pocket that is capable of lying constantly to them and programming them to think whatever the device wants them to think. That’s pretty much exactly why this happened. Don’t forget that at least half the population is of below-average intelligence. That’s below-average cognition and below-average consciousness.

We only know what’s in our head. So whatever is in your head, that’s what you think is true.
