Every mosh i’ve been in is almost an act, it looks so chaotic until you get in there and its actually pretty tame. The only time they’re difficult is when its packed and somebody starts to fall over and theres an almost domino effect.
Edit: Most of the mosh’s i’ve been in have been at garage/punk shows, and they’re also some of the kindest crowds.
Mid to late 90’s and the first few years of the 00’s I was in them regularly. So much fun.
Most recently I jumped in a wee little one at Lollapalooza Mumbai. I was the oldest by a good 20 years. It was absolutely brilliant being with all these kids for their first mosh.
My first show was Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies, and Danzig. I was 13 and had yet to hit my growth spurt, so I was 5’4 and about 100 lbs soaking wet. I got into the mosh pit, immediately knocked to the ground where I would roll down a hill until stopped by a barricade. I did that two more times and figured it’d probably be in my best interest to just watch. 🤘🤘
I’m in my mid 30’s now and I still jump in the pit at any show that warrants it. I’ve been doing it since I was a teen and will probably continue as long as my body holds up.
I’ve been to over 700 concerts. Of course I’ve been in moshpits but usually I prefer to be first row by the stage right in front of my favorite artists. Let the idiots in the mosh pit break eachother’s ribs.
At 5 ft 0 I get elbowed in the face just existing in a regular crowd, I’d probably get trampled to death in a mosh pit. The few concerts I’ve been to I have had a seat or stayed towards the back of the floor.
Went in mosh pits for over 20 years, from the time I was a teenager until I was 38. That’s the first time I got knocked over in one. Everyone helped me up and someone even gave me the shoe I lost. But that was the night I decided my moshing days were over.

Many times as a youth.
Not in many years since I’m not much of a concert goer anymore, but they’re fun
No. Never went to any concerts where that was even a thing.
Yes! Was teen in 80s- we invented them!!!
worked in one a few times now its a hard pass i dont get paid enough to be that overwelmed
No. Not my thing, and I don’t tend to go to concerts where they happen anyway.
Yes. Ozzfest 2001 in Atlanta. I wanted to try it one time in my life, and that was all I needed.
I did for a while in my metal phase. Good times.

Yeah. Used to go to metal/hxc shows all the time. Moshing’s a hoot, and folks are surprisingly chill.
Saw Slayer in NYC that was the craziest. Early 2000s. There was 3 pits going that I vigor see at one point.
Last year at IDLES in Dublin. I’m 50 and I’ve been in dozens. Always fun. I’ve yet to see stupid shit.
Yes. Moshed so hard I lost my shoes.

From Pantera to RATM, well over 100 shows and always moshing.
What do you mean why? Why would I ever be in a mush pit?

I don’t like being around too many people, or touched, or loud music.

Yes. Many times
Too many times. It is a weird form of dancing.
I’m too old for that. I’ll sit and watch or just stand and enjoy the show.
Usually u have to get thru it to get to the front haha !
Just on the edge, working my way up to don’t row center stage.
I don’t see the point. I’m there to see the concert.
Health insurance doesn’t cover it
It was always my favorite part of going to concerts.
Hell yeah, I don’t jump in anymore since I have bad knees and a sense of self preservation but I’ll treasure the memories
No, because no one has ever invited me.
Many times, it’s a thrill
No. I’m not keen on having a fight reaction trigger and getting in trouble.
When I was younger I did at every punk or metal concert. Now that I’m in my 30’s not so much, but occasionally if I’m feeling it.
No. Holds absolutely zero interest for me. Negative even. I don’t like wild parties or mobs. I like chill hangout time.
Also most concerts I go to are classical and they tend to not have mosh pits there.
I never went to any shows as a teen/young adult. Now I don’t want to be that close to that many people

Never. I’m there to watch and listen to the band play. Not to be pushed around by sweaty dudes.
YES! its a blast!
Back in the day at the Odd Future show
St Paddy’s day 2009 in Orlando at the Hard Rock, Flogging Molly, I was 17
Nope. Too old.
