Have you ever regretted shutting a relationship down in the talking stage, and why?

Yes I do. There was a guy I was in a talking stage with not so long ago. He lived in a different country to mine but he dm’d me on Instagram and we hit it off. We’d literally send each other like so many texts per day. He was very straightforward in that he liked me and wanted a relationship. And the more we spoke, the more I was attracted to him. Especially his interest in my culture, and how clear he was that he wanted to date for marriage. We had even made plans that he would come visit me.

I ended the talking stage because he started not being as consistent in the way he texted me. He would take forever to respond or just not respond as enthusiastically. I raised this issue and he responded with something along the lines of that’s just how he is, and that there are times when he just doesn’t feel like texting and that things would be a-lot better when we see each other. I was already too turned off so I just ended things. I did like him a lot so my regret comes from the what if’s, what if I had just let things be and made a decision after we’d met. But, oh well.
