On our second night in Florence, we went to a rooftop restaurant. Candlelight. Wine. I held my breath the whole time.
And nothing happened.
No proposal. Not even a speech.
The next morning, he broke up with me. At breakfast. Said he’d “realized we weren’t forever” and that the trip was to give us closure.
I flew home early.
A week later, he posted photos of the same rooftop dinner, same table, same champagne, with another girl. She had a ring on.
It had always been her. He just wanted one last trip before he left me.
