One bride to be on Reddit recently found herself in this exact situation and her flawlessly petty revenge has the internet standing up to applaud.
The Original Poster is a woman who has dealt with some serious health and growth issues in her past. Because of these medical struggles she naturally has a flat chest. But instead of feeling insecure about her body she is incredibly proud of herself and the skin she is in. That level of self love is beautiful and should absolutely be celebrated by everyone around her.
Unfortunately her fiance’s sister Mel did not get the memo about basic human decency. The family all gathered at the future in laws house to celebrate a birthday party for the niece. The OP decided to wear a gorgeous sweetheart shaped dress for the occasion. Mel took one look at the outfit and immediately announced that the dress needs boobs and the OP does not have any. The OP took the high road and completely ignored the rude jab.
But Mel was apparently just getting started on her campaign of cruelty. Later on while everyone was sitting together at dinner Mel asked the OP if she was planning on getting plastic surgery before her wedding. Mel actually said out loud in front of the entire family that the OP needed a boob job so she would not ruin her own wedding dress.
Nobody in the family stepped in to defend the bride. So she quietly bided her time until the perfect opportunity presented itself in the living room. Mel happens to have a rather large nose and she was currently struggling with a stuffed up nose from a bad cold. Mel kept loudly wiping and trying to clear her nasal passages in front of everyone.
The OP looked over at the woman who just told her to get surgical implants to fix her body. With a perfectly sweet smile on her face the OP asked Mel if she needed some help clearing out her large nose. She then casually offered to go grab a toilet plunger to get the job done. It was a swift and devastating blow to the sister in law’s ego.
The room immediately fell into a stunned, awkward silence. The only sound was Mel’s own husband actually laughing out loud at the plunger joke. Mel was absolutely fuming. She immediately played the victim card and complained to the fiance that the OP stepped out of line and ruined the niece’s birthday party with her humiliating words.
This is exactly where the fiance should have stepped up to protect his future wife. Instead he completely failed the boyfriend test. After his parents actually kicked the couple out of the house he scolded the OP for causing a scene. The internet is fully backing the OP and crowning her an absolute hero. She is definitely not the ahole in this scenario. Mel felt entirely comfortable dishing out body shaming insults but she instantly crumbled into a million pieces the second someone pointed out her own physical flaws. Suggesting someone needs major cosmetic surgery to look acceptable in a wedding gown is not an act of loving concern. You cannot throw stones when you live in a glass house with a plunger.
The real villain of this story is the fiance who stood by while his sister publicly humiliated the woman he supposedly loves. The OP does not owe Mel an apology but she definitely needs to seriously reconsider marrying into a family that normalizes this kind of toxic behavior.
