I mainly use a backpack but am looking for something that maybe is more mature ‘(if that is even a thing)?
I mostly need to carry my laptop and lunch.

Briefcases have existed for about a hundred years…………
A nicer looking backpack from REI. You could also do a peak design type messenger bag, but it really depends on your workplace how much it matters
Smurfette napsack.
All my bag for just about everything now are Osprey backpacks. Absolutely love their bags and warranty.
Black back pack. Government lawyer.
I use a soft full grain leather briefcase. It carries my laptop, lunch, extra cables, etc easily and looks a lot more professional than a backpack IMO.
Laptop bag sometimes but usually backpack since I commute on a motorcycle most of the time.
I have a backpack for casual days and a briefcase for more formal days. A few bags to choose from is a good idea in my opinion.
A backpack if I need my laptop otherwise.. phone keys wallet in my pockets

Expensive, but will last a lifetime and then go on to be used by my son/daughter.
An old worn out rucksack. I cycle to work so I don’t take anything fancy
A Piquadro leather shoulder bag. Has lasted me 10 years, still going strong.
I have bought a Thule backpack recently. Still rocking the backpack
Patagonia book bag. No one is thinking you’re immature for using a book bag to carry your things.
Manhattan Portage Back Pack Back Label by far the best acquisition of my young life 60 buck for a retail 300, and it’s pretty well made love it
A Herschel backpack with a laptop compartment. Been with me for over ten years at this point and it’s super raggedy.
Viktos messenger bag. Waterproof, doesn’t look “tactical” and can still carry everything I need.
I use a courier bag from 1998 that’s been beat all to hell full of patches I’ve sewn on over the decades. Got a soft laptop sleeve for it maybe a dozen years ago. Lucky for me I don’t have to ever look the least bit “professional”.
Not “more mature” I guess, but I use a Rogue canvas bag. Brand name doesn’t matter, but I know Rogue holds up well. Holds my gym stuff, (including belt, bands, and various apparatus that my gym doesn’t have), a change of clothes, shoes, lunch, and laptop.
It’s rugged looking, takes an absolute beating, and doubles as a great carry-on since I usually travel light.
I use a courier bag from Timbuktu. I like it better than a backpack for access, also getting It on and off while on public transit.
I use a backpack. I’m 39. It’s a Duck Hunt backpack at that.
Just a plain ol’ backpack.
