I’m 44 and things move and change

I don’t think it’s about finding one thing and that’s your life’s purpose, though for some it is. But on my journey, I’ve had multiple purposes that have taken priority and various times – becoming a musician, becoming wine professional, becoming a gym rat, learning to trade (my curent one). Also non-pursuit things like travel, my marriage, psychology, etc.

I think, for me at least, a fulfilling life doing that which gives you a sense of purpose, and that can change and evolve over time

    Just my 2 cents

You’ve found your purpose in life when you’ve discovered something that (a) brings you happiness and feeds your soul, (b) dovetails with your skills, and (c) involves you leaving the world a better place than you found it.

That can evolve and change multiple times throughout your life. It will probably never be perfect. You may not even realize you’ve stumbled upon it until much later after the fact.

That’s OK. Just be on the lookout.

My purpose is to not die homeless in a gutter, and make sure my kids have a roof over their heads.

The rest of it is beer and weed

I have, yes. My purpose is threefold:

    1. To spread the good news about Jesus to those who don’t know Him.

    2. To be an excellent husband to my wife and father to my daughter.

    3. To be responsible for my own behavior, that I treat others, especially people who I disagree, with dignity, respect, and kindness.

We all have this interpretation that we have a single purpose, or you’re supposed to make an everlasting impact on someone or something. There’s a 95% chance thats not gonna happen. You live your life the best you can and you die well…thats pretty much your “purpose” if you impact some people or things there’s a high chance you will never know but the point of it is…do you feel good about yourself, do you like yourself, are you loved…those are the questions that’ll be asked when you’re living and when you die

I’m pushing 30 and I think if you can’t find your purpose the next best thing is to adopt good habits and drop bad ones and that’ll keep you somewhat content till you find your purpose.

Good habits: regular exercise, cultivate quality relationships, read a lot, sleep well, good diet, hobbies beyond scrolling social media (reading, art, volunteering, sports etc), start investing wisely, saving money

Bad habits: addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling, porn, phone), spending on expensive things when you cant afford them, having no savings, hanging out with a bad group, etc

There is no “purpose”. Just figure out what you value and go for that. Doesn’t matter if you value time with family, volunteering, having an artistic or creative hobby, making a ton of money, whatever…..

If you value volunteering for something then work as a garbage man if it means you have days off to volunteer. If you value making money, work 100 hours per week. There is nothing wrong with either of those as long as you are doing what you value. The only way you fail is if you let others or society tell you what to do or value.

I figured it out when I was 10 and never deviated from that. But apparently I’m an anomaly for that. Which is still ok.

You either work for passion or money (figuratively). If you don’t have an immediate passion to devote yourself to, then start looking at money. If you are in high school, go talk to a career counselor. Based on the subjects you are good at, find something that fits as best you can.

Here is the truth, there are a lot of non-glamorous jobs out there that pay well, and won’t suck your life away. Make your money then go have fun.

This is the difference between my brother and me. He picked a very lucrative career, but it is just a living to him. But he can afford his hobbies, and go have fun.

I love my job, it is practically my hobby. I don’t make quite as much as him, but I do well. I just don’t take as many vacations as him.

Decisions you make now are not decisions forever. But, every decision has a cost and be willing to live with the cost.

Pay attention to your career, without making it an obsession. Talk to people who have the jobs you want, find out what it’s like. When you get the job, ask for help, find a mentor, and put in time to do things right. Sometime it’ll be a lot, other times be a little, but cut corners and it’ll become a habit and you’ll lose.

And do not marry early; date to figure what you’re looking for one step at a time. It’s the study abroad trope. If you get the chance to live abroad and you want to, and the person you’re with says stay…you go. Every time.

I suggest finding purpose for your life yourself or you will become a slave to someone elses agenda.

What’s important and meaningful to you, what makes working worthwhile, what could you see yourself saving money for, what would you forego short time fun for. Those are some points on where to start.

Teens: Experiment widely in your teens; learn yourself; meet people; don’t get set on one path of life or job.

Thirties: find yourself; know yourself; be true to yourself. Decide what type of life you want to live, whether it’s to gain experiences, give to the world, make money or whether you want a white picket fence life. And it’s ok to change your mind

That one career that you always secretly wanted to be involved in but never had the courage to do. That’s it right there.
Find a way into that field in any way possible, start low or on the fringes and work your way in.

Do what you enjoy with people you enjoy being around.

    I like helping people.

I also get paid ok and I’m not often in the middle of the drama that comes with people.

Find something you love doing and make sure you are able to do that thing lots. Loving another person(s) is another great avenue.

Being good to others is also important to ensure you have a clear conscience, have supports, have a higher chance of living a happy/long/healthy life (and a path to afterlife if you believe in that).

To make the Planet better. I invented a wind based energy Source for big companys that cut there electricity Bill by nearly 4-15%. I sell the Idea for 20% of there savings or 24% if I have to install it with a team. It was my sidehustle while I worked in costumer support.

My purpose is to live well and live a well-lived life.

Excel in what you do, try new things, see the world, meet people, leave a legacy that you are proud of for your children and those around you.

You probably don’t have enough life experience to have discovered a passion or purpose yet. Relax. Take the opportunities that come to you and you may run into something that works for you.

My children are my raison d’être.

Purpose? Pay your bills, don’t be an asshole, and find someone who laughs at your dumb jokes. Everything else is bonus DLC.
