Hey Reddit, I was recently hired at a nursing home by my house, pending background check. Went into the interview, the administrator who was in charge of hiring also said that I got the job, I’d start Thursday. They routed my information up for the background check, and said that HR would reach out to me next day for onboarding. HR didn’t reach out to me till four days afterward, stating I passed the background check, and that I was scheduled to start Thursday once I filled out a form with more info. Told HR I would do it next day, as it was late and I was out and couldn’t take care of it. Next day comes round, and I’m going to sit down to submit my stuff, when my friend who works there (he recommended me to go there and helped me get an interview), called me and said the owner is refusing to hire me. Talk to a few people, google a few things, and I’m being told that I have a case due to the fact that I was hired and had my paperwork. Is there anyone who can confirm that’s true, because the sources I talked to aren’t lawyers, nor are they in my state, and the stuff I found online said yes and no.
To add: I thought that I wouldn’t have a case, nor did I think it was illegal because couldn’t they claim that they “fired” me?
