Last month I asked for a handicapped parking spot as I’m disabled. I was told to send an email verifying I was indeed disabled. I sent the property manger a picture of my license which has the little handicapped symbol on it. No answer for weeks until I received an email regarding an issue about my vehicle not being inspected (NH just removed the mandatory state inspection) I thought that’s seems trivial given that in 5 months it doesn’t matter but fine, I got the vehicle inspected and it’s now a full legal beagle. I asked for an update on the handicap request with no answer again. Finally I provided proof that the vehicle issue was taken care and again asked for an update.
Finally I was told the symbol on my license is not recognized as proof. So I submitted a picture of my placard as that is proof for NH. Now I’m being asked which vehicle my spot would be for which seems odd because to my knowledge my placard is assigned to me and not a vehicle. But they’re refusing to move forward unless I provide them which vehicle it will be for.
I know “some” stuff regarding this area. But trying to find the exact information online is proving difficult. Is there somewhere that has this information laid out for me to read and reference?
Thank you all in advance.

If you have a placard and license modification that is what the law requires. It is possible to have a license plate with status indicated however those aren’t standard in NH. Your landlord is either playing dumb or clueless about compliance. If they want to verify they need your placard number and drivers license number and then they call the police or NH DOT. Linking it to a specific vehicle is not part of the law and they have no rationale to ask it.
You’re right that disabled parking placards are assigned to the person, not the vehicle, but they can ask vehicle information to validate the vehicle is associated with the resident or to enforce parking and make sure the spot isn’t abused.
What’s the issue here, exactly? Do you have multiple vehicles?
