A federal inquiry has found that a Texas hospital violated the law when it repeatedly discharged a woman who was bleeding and in pain without terminating the pregnancy they knew to be nonviable and life threatening.
>The Biden Administration created confusion, but EMTALA is clear and the law has not changed: women will receive care for miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, and medical emergencies in all fifty states—this has not and will never change in the Trump Administration,”
FYI, you’re going to start seeing some pro-lifers sharing this story to claim “SEE, it’s the activist doctors who are harming women, not abortion bans.” So a strong reminder:
Just because the investigation found the hospital at fault for violating the law, this does NOT mean that the state’s abortion ban didn’t cause the problem in the first place. Texas’s abortion ban incentivizes hospitals to error on the side of not providing emergency abortions. Hospital administrations would rather risk the penalty of a lawsuit (which they have malpractice insurance for) than 99 years in prison for a procedure that a trigger-happy pro-life prosecutor deems an unjustified abortion.
She lost part of her reproductive system. The state wants broodmares but this, as I recall, was a wanted pregnancy. They don’t care that they likely took her ability to have a child because they see women as less than. Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness for me but not for thee.

I hate that this is going to become the norm

Pinnacle of cynicism
What happened to “except when the mother’s life is in danger”?
There is literally no other treatment for ectopic pregnancy but termination.
America is such a crazy place, i just can’t wrap my head around it.
In fact it’s status as a first world country must now, surely, only rest on it’s big tech industry. Because in other areas it’s way off the mark.

Complicity
