Make As much money as possible take on as many freelance gigs as i can during downtme at work and to buy as much real estate as I can when prices fall another 40%.
Only thing I got left is to mock and ridicule the right who aggressively asked and voted and cheated for this. It will be funny to see their suffering suffrage
hoard cash, get home repairs done as soon as possible before tariffs kick in on the price of construction materials, and get rid of streaming I don’t watch.
Make a garden guys!! Seriously, it will help cut down on that grocery bill. Use rainwater to water them, learn how to properly store food from your garden for the long-term.
We are stronger in numbers! Get to know your neighbours, maybe host a neighbourhood bbq! Meeting your community means that we will rely more on each other when things get really hard.
Hope is not lost. Keep your head up, and keep moving forward. Giving up and giving in is exactly what the rich people in charge want. Don’t let them win!
Stock up on food , moved all asset into cash , bonds and silver/gold . Canceled streaming service and other non essential crap. Amazon Apple subscriptions . It’s going to be a long road .
My family has a 7-9 month nest egg saved up. We have a 2 year old and will have a newborn in a the summer so I’d feel more comfortable with a years worth of living expenses, but we are where we are. It provides some comfort. May pause contributions to our children’s educational funds for a year to get a bit more padding, I’m still debating that bc who knows what the fuck the market will do.
Also, we live a bit below our means. Our housing/mortgage is closer to 20% of our monthly take home pay. Recommendation is to stay at or below 30%.
I had graduated college during the recession of 2008. I was lucky enough to find a job in a major city, but I watched so many friends graduate from excellent universities and work minimum wage jobs for a year or two because of the market. I learned what that shit looks like and have been very focused on preparing for another major economic downturn sin since.
Only buying essentials. Shopping at Winco. Not going out to eat or booking entertainment. No traveling. Made our big purchases at the end of last year. We knew a shit show was coming. Keep a monthly budget and track costs. Cancelled 2 streaming channels. Look for cheap entertainment, like museums. Some offer free admission once a month. We are in our 70s, been through this before.
Emotionally prepare yourself for its randomness. This is (probably) not your fault and while you can somewhat make rational calls about whether you work in a high turnover or low turnover/safe industry that still doesn’t change that you’re probably not in the room where the calculations happen.
So plan economically and also remember that not-spending is just as catastrophic. The not-spending bit is about when you talk to people as a group. Everyone should try to be rational. The mechanic is supporting his family. The plumber is supporting his family. And yes, those “bullshit jobs” some people insist are out there are supporting someone else’s family. So plan your spending rationally and try not to jump from one side of the boat to the other continually.
During the last big recession in 2008/2009, a lot of people just switched from sit down restaurants to fast food, but right now there are weirdly some sit down chains like Chili’s and Applebees that are a better value than fast food. If you do fast food, stop getting drinks and maybe even fries. But if you really want to save money, start cooking for yourself, and make big meals you can stretch over days with leftovers.

(And no I’m not whatever name you want to give me). I just educate myself and realize things aren’t what social media make them out to be.
