How can I advocate for myself when I feel like my provider isn’t listening?

r/

Recently went to the doc and felt totally dismissed. I am not a whiner about pain, but was basically told it is just menopause honey get used to it. I thought to myself I have been in menopause for more than 20 years (total hysto at 29) this is not meno. I will be seeking a second opinion

I think getting a second opinion is the best thing to do.

There’s a huge amount of social pressure not to give frank feedback in the room to providers, particularly because you’re usually in a position where you need something from them. But you might consider writing a letter.

I hope you find someone who will actually address your issue. Even if it were “just menopause,” (which I believe you when you say it’s different, I mean even if it were), there are actually treatments that can help the symptoms! You don’t have to just put up with it.
